Holy Spirit's Staff Pastor Ric Elliott Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext.111 Email: prelliott@holyspirit-emmaus.org Pastor Elliott is the Senior Pastor and serves as head of the church staff. In addition to preaching, worship, teaching and pastoral care responsibilities, Pastor Ric relates to numerous administrative ministries of the church in addition to the mission teams of church growth, worship, stewardship, finance, staff relations and the Congregation Council. His passion is to invite, welcome, and accept all people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and to transform us. Pastor Ric received his bachelor s degree cum laude from Thiel College, Greenville, PA; Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg cum laude, and Masters of Sacred Theology from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He was ordained June 10, 1979. Since then he has served Trinity, Lansdale, PA; Luther Memorial, Blacksburg, VA; Christus Victor, Dumfries, VA; St. James, Wheeling, WV; New Hanover, Gilbertsville, PA and finally here in Emmaus. He is married to Jane Elliott, a Deacon, who also serves here at Holy Spirit. They have a daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Pastor Spencer Steele Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 110 Email: PrSteele@holyspirit-emmaus.org Pastor Spencer Steele was called to Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit as an Associate Pastor in 2018. As an Associate Pastor he shares the responsibilities of other pastoral staff, but has an emphasis the Youth and Family Ministry programs of the church. He received

his MDiv from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley California. Pastor Spencer served as a Bridge Pastor in Lake Elsinore, Ca. for one year after graduation. Then being ordained on January 14, 2018 in Dana Point, California; Pastor Spencer and his family moved across the country for his call at Holy Spirit. He, his wife Amanda and their dog Nox are enjoying their new lives here in Pennsylvania. They are excited to be a part of the vibrant life of Holy Spirit and its members. In his personal time Pastor Spencer enjoys hiking, skiing, kayaking, watching movies and playing games. She is completing her Master of Divinity degree at United Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa. and will be serving the congregation through December 2019. Vicar Tami s path toward ordained ministry is a second-career calling, after having been an attorney practicing law for over 25 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Delaware prior to receiving her Juris Doctorate from Widener University Law School. Vicar Tami looks forward to the future ministry God is calling her to and the opportunity to learn and grow in an active, vibrant, loving community of faith such as Holy Spirit. When not busy with school and church, she enjoys quality time with her two teenage children, physical activity and sports, and the beauty of nature being outdoors. Sharon MacCabe, our Director of Music, is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music with a degree in Organ Performance, and a graduate of West Chester University with a degree in Harpsichord Performance. Sharon studied conducting with Michael Korn. She has been an organist/choir director at many Lutheran Churches in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties Christ Lutheran in Oreland, St. Paul s in Olney, St. John s in Hatboro, and most recently at St. James in Pottstown. Mrs. MacCabe also served as organist/choir director at the historic Keneseth Israel Synagugoe in Elkins Park. Before Sharon came to Holy Spirit, she served as head of the Music Department at the Kimberton Waldorf School. Throughout Mrs. MacCabe s career she has sought to bring understanding of others through music. This is a mission that continues today in her ministry at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. Jane Elliott Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 108 Email: jelliott@holyspirit-emmaus.org Jane is the Director of Liturgy and Faith Formation for Adults. Jane brings a passion for encouraging God s unconditional love, acceptance, and grace to all people. Initially Jane served by communicating it through the medium of church music, then through administrating, serving and equipping applicants and candidate s with their God given gifts for rostered ministry in the ELCA. Now she serves through sharing her passion for God through creating dynamic liturgy in worship and forming faith in adults here at Holy Spirit. Jane received degrees from Virginia Intermont College in music in Bristol, VA, Wittenberg University in church music in Springfield, OH, Berliner Kirchenmusikschule in church music in Berlin, Germany, and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA in Christian education & counseling. She was certified to serve as a rostered lay leader of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since November 30, 1978 and is now a Deacon. Deacons are the ministry of Word and Service lay roster of the ELCA. Jane has served in music at Trinity, Lansdale, PA; Luther Memorial, Blacksburg, VA; Christus Victor, Dumfries, VA; St. James, Wheeling, WV. Before serving here at Holy Spirit, Jane served on synod staff at Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, ELCA, as Associate in Ministry for Mission

Leadership and then as Director for Candidacy and Discernment Ministries. Jane was born, raised, baptized and confirmed in the Philadelphia area. She and Pastor Ric consider themselves blessed to be married for over 40 years and blessed with a daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Karin Kahler Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 107 Email: kahler@holyspirit-emmaus.org1 Karin serves as the Director of Faith Formation Ministries for Children. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University and a Masters in Education from Kutztown University. Prior to coming to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Karin taught kindergarten and first grade for twelve years. Her responsibilities at Holy Spirit involve the coordination of faith formation ministries for children from birth through grade 5, which includes such ministries as Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, baptismal ministries, GIFT (elementary fellowship), Holy Spirit Nursery School and the Will Wotring Resource Library. Karin is married and has two children. Alice Mudge Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 101 Email: mudge@holyspirit-emmaus.org Alice serves as the Executive Administrative Assistant in the church office. Alice brings many years of administrative experience to the church. She previously worked at Holy Spirit as the church secretary in the 80 s before going into the insurance and financial services field for 17 years. After a brief time at the Clover Hill

Winery as office manager, she worked at Rodale, Inc. as an administrative assistant to the Men s Health editorial team. Alice has an AAS Degree in Business Management from LCCC. As a member of Holy Spirit (nearly 30 years), she is heavily involved in the Rejoicing Spirits Ministry and most recently served as a leader of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Alice lives in Emmaus with her good friend Glynnis and values time spent with her Godchild Christopher, a developmentally disabled young man who resides in a LifePath Home in Coplay. In that capacity she manages our day-today financial transactions and accounting, and provides financial analysis in support of the Congregation Council, staff members and mission teams. Sherilyn was raised in New London, PA. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Immaculata University with a degree in Business Administration. Sherilyn worked as an accountant for ING in West Chester for six years before taking a leave to spend more time with her two children, Jocelyn and Kyden. Now that they are of school age Sherilyn has returned to work. She and her husband Justin are both members of the congregation. Sherilyn has been a Vacation Bible School volunteer and a substitute nursery school teacher here at Holy Spirit. Chris Carter Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 105 Email: carter@holyspirit-emmaus.org Chris retired after 35 years as a manager in the IT department of PPL, and joined the staff as Property

Manager in 2017. As such he is responsible for the core maintenance and improvements for the church building and grounds. He has been a member of Holy Spirit since 1995. Over the years Chris has been a very active member of our congregation, serving on various mission teams including Property, Finance, and Spirituality, as well as two terms on our Congregation Council. He is also a volunteer coordinator for Project Help, our annual mission trip to Starks, Maine, working with a not-for-profit housing ministry. Chris originally hails from Girard, PA. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in applied mathematics. He now lives in Emmaus, just a couple of blocks from Church, with his wife Carolyn, and has three adult children (Kate, Andy and Ali) living in various cities in the Northeast. When not at church, Chris enjoys rail trail bike riding, skiing and train watching.

Edie Gliem Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 102 Email: gliem@holyspirit-emmaus.org Edie Gliem is our Parish Nurse and Health Educator. She earned her undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and her masters at California State University at Los Angeles. She s had clinical experience in the Emergency Department, Coronary Care Unit and Intensive Care. Her teaching background includes Med-Surg, Critical Care and Unit Management at the hospital and university levels. She has been a Clinical Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Nursing Home Administrator. She views her skills as parish nurse as a commitment to her faith. Michael Roeder Phone: 610-967-2220 Ext. 106 Email: sexton@holyspirit-emmaus.org Michael is our Church Sexton. He hails from Limeport and attended Southern Lehigh High School. Prior to coming to Holy Spirit Michael had already built twelve years of experience in facility cleaning and upkeep. He was sexton for St. Thomas More parish, and also worked for the Quakertown School District. Michael has also worked for Service Master and You ve Got Maids cleaning for hospitals, businesses and schools. In addition to his work at Holy Spirit he drives school buses in Salisbury Township.
