November 26, 2017 From the Pastor s Desk OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST KING OF THE UNIVERSE THE LIGHTS ARE ON FOR YOU: What has become a popular event in the Diocese to promote Confession during Advent will be held on Wednesday, December 13th. Since many of you told me you don t drive at night. I will be in the confessional at Sacred Heart from 3:00 4:00 PM in the afternoon and then from 6:00 9:00 PM in the evening. As a reminder our usual confession schedule is Saturday afternoon from 3:00 to 3:30 on Saturday afternoon at Good Shepherd Church. OR you can always call for an appointment. The rule of thumb I like to follow is if you last for more than 4 minutes you should call for an appointment. On December 13th when the lights are on for you as long as you avoid the first 1/2 hour you can have a little more time. But a rule of thumb for you to remember is that Confession is NOT a counseling session. I am very glad to combine Confession and Counseling though if you call for an appointment because you want to discuss something. CHRISTMAS PARTY: If you attend the 11:00 AM Mass on December 3rd just plan on coming down after Mass. The door at the top of the stairs has a panic bar so you will be able to leave that way. If you are NOT planning on coming to the 11:00 AM Mass, please plan to arrive after 12:15 PM to give the parking lot time to empty. NO BUMPER CARS WANTED! Please Note: I must correct myself. The music will be provided by Mikey D. CHURCH ENVELOPES: Your box of church envelopes will be available for pick up on Saturday and Sunday, December 2 & 3 after Mass at Good Shepherd Church. They will remain there until December 9 & 10. After the 9:00 AM Mass on December 10 they will be taken up to Sacred Heart for the 11:00 AM Mass. They will stay there until after the Mass on December 17. Then they will be in the Office beginning Monday, December 18. CHRISTMAS WAFERS also called Oplatky will be available on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 & 10 in the vestibule. Envelopes contain 3 white and one pink wafer and are $2.00 each. GIVING TREES: The Giving Trees are in the churches with the tags attached. Please help us help some families have a good Christmas. It is always a joy for me to see all the wonderful gifts that come in and go out. Thanks for your kindness. CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE I thought it might be good to share the Christmas schedule now since you may need to schedule other stuff. These masses fulfill our Sunday needs: Saturday, December 23: 4:00 PM Sunday, December 24: 9:00 and 11:00 AM The following masses satisfy our Christmas needs: Sunday, December 24: 4:00 PM Vigil Monday, December 25: 9:00 and 11:00 AM And then we will begin our 7:00 AM weekday Mass on January 1, 2018 Monday through Friday. St. Maurice will have the 9:00 AM mass. **Please note**january 1, New Year s Day, is not a Holy Day of obligation this year since it falls on a Monday.
