SCOPE AND CONTENT The Holt Family Papers, containing approximately 1,500 items, span the period 1800-1916. The collection includes accounts, cemetery records, certificates, correspondence, court records, estate papers, legal documents, and a slave bill of sale and several miscellaneous items. Many of these items are copies. Included in the correspondence is a Civil War letter written by a soldier attached to Bates Division, Cheatham Corps, Army of Tennessee, regarding the military campaign in Middle Tennessee.
