2 MOBC COMMUNITY NEWS!! HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART March 7 April 20 2019 The Pulpit Attire is Purple Lent: The forty days are taken from the days of temptations and fasting Jesus spent in the wilderness. The forty days extend from Ash Wednesday to Easter Eve and contains six Sundays. Lent is a season of preparation for Easter through prayer, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and fasting. Theme For This Quarter: DISCIPLESHIP AND MISSION This quarter surveys several calls to ministry and the expectations of those called. Calls to service, as recorded in the Gospels of Mark and Luke, are highlighted. We explore Paul s call to ministry, with special attention to the Roman church. On Easter Sunday, we examine Matthew s account to the Resurrection. UNIT 1 CALL TO DISCIPLESHIP This unit has four sessions and highlights several aspects of what it means to be called by Jesus as a disciple. They include hospitality, counting the cost, reaching the lost, and salvation for all people. March 31, 2019 NEXT WEEK S LESSON: Called to Discipleship Matthew 4:12-22 People can be settled in their ways but destined for greater purposes. How do people discover and respond to that higher calling? When Jesus called His first disciples, they responded by leaving their routine work to follow Him. MONDAY: Jethro Hears of the Egyptian Deliverance Exodus 18:1-9 TUESDAY: Sustained by God Deuteronomy 8:1-11 WEDNESDAY: God Speaks to Disciples Luke 9:28-36 THURSDAY: Well Pleased Matthew 3:11-17 FRIDAY: Tempted in the Wilderness Matthew 4:1-11 SATURDAY: Good News and Healing Matthew 4:23-25 SUNDAY: Called and Enabled for Ministry Matthew 4:12-22 Sermon Highlights Women s Day Celebration March 17, 2019 Rev. Kimberly Fortune Galilee Baptist Church Louisa, Kents Store, VA Title: Become Your Own C.H.O. Text: Ephesians 2:10; 1 Peter 2:9 Main Idea: We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. You can become your own C. H. O.. C. H. O. stands for: Main Points: 1) Chosen for purpose. 2) Humble in power. 3) Operating in praise. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise t 5. us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 6. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus Heavenly Father, I now understand my need to have my sins forgiven. I also realize that only Jesus because of His sacrifice on the cross can forgive my sin. I put my faith and trust in Jesus today. Please forgive me and become the Lord of my life. MOBC Bible Institute The Bible Institute is now in session. Class will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM 8:00 PM in the MP Building, Classroom #1. Join us in a comprehensive study of the book of Romans. the just shall live by faith Romans 1:17. Instructor: Sis. Marilyn E. Coates

M O B C Spiritual and Academic Enrichment Program Who: Elementary, Middle and High School Youth What: Assistance and academic Support for School Based Instruction and Bible Study Where: Mount Olive Baptist Church When: Each Wednesday Time: 6:30 PM 8:00 PM Attention all Retired Teachers, Bible Study Teachers and those with a desire to help our Youth in their Academic and Spiritual Development. The Academic Achievement Enrichment and Bible Study for our children and youth is now in session through June 19, 2019 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM. The Academic and Spiritual Enrichment Program is in need of Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Lesson Coordinators, Food Preparation & Serving, Bus Monitors and Hall Monitors for our Wednesday Night Program. We need teachers for Academics in the areas of Math and Reading for ages K - 12 grade and Bible Study Teachers. One hour commitment. We will train and provide lessons for all areas. Our primary focus for Academics will be on strengthening the students Math and Reading skills. Our primary focus for Bible Study will be to enrich their lives as they grow spiritually. Our goals for our Academic and Spiritual Enrichment Program are to: 1. Develop an appreciation for the Bible and its relevance to the problems youth and children encounter. 2. Realize God's love for them and His unconditional acceptance of them. 3. Develop useful problem-solving skills and study habits. 4. Develop positive feeling about themselves and a sense of adequacy and self-worth. 6. To provide a child who is having difficulty in school, with a friend. 8. To renew their interest in their schoolwork and in their future. 9. To provide the child with individual attention and help increase their motivation to learn. 10. To help children feel someone cares about them. For more information please see Sis. Linda Nelson, Rev. Kelly Evans, or Rev. Deborah Simmons. Help us empower our youth to ensure their academic Success!

7 1. Age Targeted Teaching: Where else can your kids get Biblical instruction that's focused toward their developmental abilities? 2. Friends: In Sunday School, your child will build positive friendships with their peers by discovering God's Word together. 3. It's Fun: Sunday School is not Disney Land, but our teachers do work hard to teach the Bible in ways that are relevant and fun for kids. 4. Spiritual Mentors: A dedicated teacher can be a Christian role model who supports you and helps inspire the faith of your child. 5. Systematic Bible Learning: Our curriculum is designed to give a broad foundation, so children will understand how all the parts of Scripture point to Christ. 6. Praying Teachers: Our teachers consistently pray for your child's faith to grow. Coming to Sunday School gives another occasion for God to answer those requests. 7. Big Reward For a Small Investment: If you're already coming to church, just come a little earlier or stay a little later. 8. Send the Right Message: Making Sunday School a priority shows your kids that God's Word really does matter. 9. Adult Bible Fellowship: While the children enjoy their class, you can fellowship with other adults in your own Bible study group. 10. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
