You Are Invited to a Special Baby Shower Beginning this Sunday, March 24, 2019! FOR: Wesley & Jade Ewoldt, and their two precious preemie twins, Kambry Lee & Keeley James WHERE: Here at our Church, just outside of the Mason Room On Monday, January 28, 2019 I (Barb Olson) saw a headline in the Sioux City Journal that read, Identical Twin Girls Among Youngest Born in Iowa. Upon reading the article, the story captured my heart! Jade Ewoldt was pregnant with twins. They discovered the babies had TTTS, Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, which can be fatal. The babies had in-utero surgery which resulted in their premature birth. Born at just 22 weeks and 1 day gestation, 18 weeks early, the girls weighed 1-pound for Keeley and just 13.4-ounces for Kambry, (less than a can of soda after a drop in weight to 11.64 ounces). They were approximately the size of a dollar bill. The girls are currently at 5-pounds for Kambry and 6 pounds. for Keeley. They are the youngest surviving twins to be born at the University of Iowa Hospitals. We can only imagine the stress, struggles and challenges that they are facing on a daily basis. Please join me in being a BLESSING by sharing our blessings with this young family. They are registered at Target - Two babies means two of everything! Or you can buy a gift card and leave it at the church. Also, if you would like to give a cash donation, I (Barb) will buy the gift cards from the cash raised. As we are reminded in Hebrews 13:16: Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Be a Friend - Be a Blessing! CROP Walk - A Golden Anniversary For fifty years now, millions of people have committed to ending hunger through the CROP Hunger Walk. Each step taken in the Walk means that someone can experience the valuable gifts of food and water. And that's something we can truly celebrate this milestone year! Ever Take Piano Lessons? Want to Help Children Learn Basic Piano? Hunt Elementary School (Hunt) and First United Methodist Church (First UMC) have been in partnership with each other for over 15 years. Hunt has used the church facilities for concerts and school programs. The church also realizes that Hunt is an Arts+ school and would like to help students develop their musical ability. Last year, we started a program where children in grades 3-5 would be offered the opportunity to take beginning piano lessons. The class is on Mondays right after school gets out beginning at 2:45 Each round of classes lasts 6 weeks. The first round of classes will be from Oct. 8 - Nov. 12, 2018. A second round of classes would be from Jan. 7 - Feb. 11, 2019, and a third round from March 4 - April 8, 2019. There is a new group of students with each round. All Students participating meet with an adult to walk the students from Hunt to First UMC. Students would arrive at First UMC around 2:40 and prepare to take their piano lesson from 2:45-3:30. There is a volunteer piano teacher instructing 2 children at one time (using one piano). We currently have 6 pianos to use so that would mean a total of 12 students per round and 6 volunteer piano teachers. Piano teachers would be volunteers who have musical experience and would be mentoring the students. Volunteer teachers (even those who volunteered last year) need to pass background checks from the Sioux City Community School District (Forms are available in the church office). You can help teach 1, 2, or all 3, 6-class sessions. In Worship This Week: Sunday, March 24 th Leadership: Rev.
