FUMC Centennial Moments for March: FUMC Church Historian Mrs. Blanche Floyd (4/13/1920-1/24/2008) served as FUMC s first Church Historian from 1985 to 2000. Blanche was the daughter of a Methodist Minister, one of eight children, and a graduate of Columbia College. She earned a Master's Degree from USC, taught school for 33 years, taught Sunday School, was a Lay Delegate to Annual Conference, served on the Administrative Board at FUMC, served on Historical and Archives boards, and was a choir member. Blanche was married to J.K. Floyd for 66 years and the mother of three children. Upon retirement, she became a freelance writer having articles published in local and state magazines and newspapers. She authored six books, two of which were on the history of FUMC. Blanche was the driving force behind the history of FUMC, and she loved contributing her time to the church.
