Javed Akhtar was born in 1945 in Pakistan His father Jaan Nisar Akhtar was a Bollywood film songwriter and Urdu poet, and his mother Safia Akhtar was a singer, teacher and writer. His grandfather Muztar Khairabadi was a poet as was his grandfather's elder brother, Bismil Khairabadi, while his great great grandfather, Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi was a scholar of Islamic studies and theology and played an important role in the First Independence Movement of India in 1857 Javed Akhtar's original name was Jadoo, taken from a line in a poem written by his father: "Lamha, lamha kisi jadoo ka fasana hoga". Anwar maqbool Ansari is known as Sahar Ansari. He was born on 27 December 1939 in Aurangabad, though he belonged to Muradabad. He moved to Karachi with his parents in 1950. After having completed his graduation in science, he did his Masters in Urdu and English from Karachi University. He had worked as the head of Urdu Department of Karachi University. He was also in charge of the Urdu Dictionary board. He has translated the literature of different languages into English. In addition to poetry, he has written enough in prose as well. His interest lies more in criticism. Literature was in his genes. He is the disciple of Jalib Muradabadi, who was of the time period of Jigar Muradabadi. He has a very rich library and is also passionate about painting. His collection of poetry was published in 1976 under the title Namood. Naasiq Hayaat Aur Shairy is the thesis that he wrote for his Ph.D. He was the winner of the president medal for his performance in literature.
Naseer Turabi (Urdu ترابی (نصير was born on June 15, 1945 in Hyderabad, Hyderabad State which was then, Deccan. He came to Pakistan after the independence of Pakistan in 1947. He did his M.A.. in Mass Communications from University of Karachi in 1968. He lives in Karachi. He began writing poetry in 1962. His first collection of Poetry Aks-e- Faryadi was published in 2000. After the outcome of Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 he wrote a Ghazal "Woh Humsafar Tha " expressing the story of separation of East Pakistan The same Ghazal was later used as a theme song for Humsafar drama series. Right from Sahir Ludhianvi, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Kaifi Aazmi and Jaan Nisar Akhtar to Jaaved Akhtar, Gulzar and other Urdu poets have immense contribution in shaping Hindi Film music. Most of these authors were also part of progressive writers movement and played an important part reforming the social fabric of our country. Much of the intellectual thought in pre independence India was dominated by left leaning intellectuals as some of the above.
