We Confess Our Sin (in unison) Almighty God, you have raised Jesus from death to life and crowned him Lord of all. We confess that we have not bowed before him or acknowledged his rule in our lives. We have gone along with the ways of the world, and failed to give him glory. Forgive us and raise us from sin, that we may be your faithful people, obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ, who rules the world and is Head of the Church - his body. In his holy name we pray. Amen. A Moment of Silent Confession *Promise of God s Forgiveness One: Who is in a position to condemn? All: Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ, prays for us. One: Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. All: The old life has gone, a new life has begun. One: Know that we have been forgiven and be at peace! Beverly Bullock WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD *Reflective Hymn "Sweet, Sweet Spirit Page 134 *We Affirm Our Faith - The Apostle s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers of the People (in unison) Dear Lord, who makes every day new, we thank you for the beauty of creation, and the new creation in Christ; all gifts of healing and forgiveness, the sustaining love of family and friends and the fellowship of faith in your Church. Merciful God of Might, renew this weary world, heal the hurts of all your children, and bring about your peace for all in Christ Jesus - the living Lord. We pray for those who govern nations of the world, the people in countries ravaged by strife, warfare and natural disasters; all who work for peace and international harmony, all who strive to save the earth from destruction and for the Church of Jesus Christ in every land. For the wonder and goodness of Creation, for so bountifully providing for our needs, for staying with us though we turn away from you, and, in your abounding mercy, for seeking to restore us in our brokenness to your wonderful image. Loving Jesus, our Redeemer, we give you thanks... For your servant s life of preaching, teaching and healing and for your atoning sacrifice on the Cross which has both restored our relationship with our Creator and broken the power of sin to control our lives. Holy Spirit, who sustains us moment by moment, we give you thanks... For your transforming presence which creates unity from our diversity and makes us one with the living God we worship in Jesus Christ. Prepare us to be faithful disciples, modeling Jesus love, humility, obedience, and concern for justice for a world in need. O Lord, as the Body of Christ, bearers of Good News and God s ambassadors of reconciliation, we now lift up to you the thanksgivings and concerns we ve shared today and these personal requests for your merciful and powerful intervention [each prays in silence]...and now we pray the prayer which Jesus taught, saying... [continued on back]

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
