FEBRUARY 2017 ADVENTURE PRINCESSES: RUNNING WATERS Upcoming Events: Frontier Meeting (2/2), Mardi Gras (2/4), Winter Camp (2/10-2/12), Bowling (2/19), Boat Regatta (2/26)

Trail Boss Letter Yetta Hey! It was great to see so many new faces at Induction. It s already clear we have a very good group of new dads and daughters joining. Please welcome all new members when you see them. New Sky Outpost the Cherry Blossoms, New Forest Outpost Ocumgache and Forest Angels. We are happy to have you! Congratulations to the winners! Don Richter won the Golden Tomahawk. Well deserved Don as you clearly will do anything for our girls and this organization. Thank you Kevin Sexton won the Bruce Kendall award. Kevin and Kaitlyn have created many lasting memories for our girls over the years and for that we are grateful. David Shefferly won the Joe Friday award. David and Ashley put a lot of time and effort in making sure the Princesses stay organized and are ready to help at any event. Great to see you receive this award. January overall has been a bit slow due to no snow and rescheduling of Bowling. No worries though as the work has not stopped as we have many great events planned this year. February alone will have our Fundraiser, Winter Camp, Bowling and Regatta Boat Race. Then a new event for us at Playhouse Square comes in March. Please make sure you check the calendar as some of the cut off dates for sign up can sneak up on you fast. A Goal this year is to get more involved within the community. We are in good standing with NR YMCA, we made a donation to the Women s Recovery Center, looking into assisting with Flags Of Honor Event (honoring fallen soldiers). If you have an idea please let Trail Boss know. At this time you should be thinking: How can I help with Mardi Gras, Patriotic items to bring to Winter Camp, get together with Outpost to build a sweet Regatta Boat, have Fun and enjoy life!! Storyteller Story It is my great honor to be the 2017 Storyteller. I certainly have big shoes to fill, but am up for the challenge! I think it will be a great year. As I prepare, I find I am struggling most with how long my stories should be. I don t want them to be too long and bore the girls nor do I want the stories to be too short. I m up for suggestions! Either way, all of my stories should be fun and entertaining, and I hope you enjoy them as much as the girls do. Once upon a time, there were three young Princesses who all lived in a big manor, with butlers, maids, cooks, and lots of servants. The Princesses did not treat them like slaves; the girls treated them with respect and kindness. The Princess s father was also very kind. He taught the girls how to treat all people with respect and kindness. One summer morning a messenger came to the manor with very sad news. The Princess s grandmother was very ill and their father had to go to help take care of her. The Princess s Uncle agreed to watch over them until their father could return. The Uncle was very mean to everyone. His mood made everyone in the manor miserable. One time he scolded the cook because his soup was too hot. Another time he complained because he did not like the way the butler made his bed. This type of behavior went on for days. One day the 3 Princesses had a meeting in their tree house. They wanted to teach their Uncle how to be respectful and kind to others just as they had been taught. So, they came up with a plan. The next morning, while eating breakfast the youngest Princess said to the cook, Thank for our breakfast, this is a very nice meal. The Uncle watched this polite behavior and felt a bit awkward that he has never said anything nice or polite to the cook. After lunch, the second oldest Princess offered to help the butler with her chores. The Uncle saw this behavior and again felt a bit uneasy, because he had just finished complaining about the dirty floors. That evening the oldest Princess complimented the kitchen staff for their wonderful meal and then volunteered to wash the dishes. Once again this kindness made their Uncle a bit uncomfortable. While lying in bed that evening, the Uncle thought about how he has behaved towards the butlers, the maids, the cooks and how sweet and kind everyone has been to him. It was that evening that he realized what he had to do. The next morning he woke before anyone else in the Manor, so he could be the first in the kitchen to cook everyone breakfast. It was a wonderful morning. Everyone was smiling and laughing and having a good time. I have been acting silly these past few weeks. I have been yelling at cooks, maids and butlers. I have not been respectful to anyone in the manor. Watching the three of you The uncle said as he turned to the Princesses, Has taught me to be kind and caring to others. Thank you for teaching me this valuable lesson. I am very sorry I have not been nice to all of you. The Uncle was on his best behavior for the rest of his stay until their father returned a few weeks later. The End. *** Dads, remember it is what we teach our daughters that they will one day teach to others.*** Chuck and Allison Ricco 2017 Storytellers
