DIVINE MERCY NOVENA From 1931 to 1938 Our Lord revealed the secrets of His great mercy to St. Faustina. He designated the first Sunday after Easter as the Feast of the Divine Mercy. In preparation for this Feast, He asked that a Novena of Chaplets be started on Good Friday. Jesus said: By this novena, I will grant every possible grace to souls. (Diary, #796). I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death. On each day you will bring to My Heart a different group of souls, and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy, and I will bring all these souls into the house of My Father (Diary, # 1209) The intentions for the Novena as dictated by Jesus are as follows: 1 st day - All mankind, especially all sinners 2 nd day - Priests and Religious 3 rd day - All devout and faithful souls 4 th day - Pagans and those who do not know Jesus 5 th day - Heretics and schismatics 6 th day - Meek and humble souls and the souls of little children 7 th day - Souls who especially venerate and glorify God s mercy 8 th day - Souls in Purgatory 9 th day - Souls who have become lukewarm The Novena will be prayed here at Holy Innocents publicly with veneration of the First Class relic of St. Faustina as follows: Good Friday, April 14 - During the 3 Hours Agony Devotions (around 12:45 p.m.) Holy Saturday, April 15 - Following the 1:00 p.m. Blessing of Easter food Easter Sunday, April 16-10:15 a.m. (prior to the Solemn High Mass) Easter week, Monday through Friday: 5:40 p.m. Easter Saturday, April 22 - Following the 1:00 p.m. Latin Mass If you are not able to pray the novena publicly, please take a novena leaflet and pray it at home on your own.
