MESSAGE 6: CALL TOWARDS CONTROL OF THE TONGUE Divine Messages of nurturing The tongue which is guided by Allah will never utter hurtful or harsh words. There is a connection between the tongue and the path taken. If from your Creator على صراط the tongue is guided, the person is { الحميد }, upon the praiseworthy path. و ه د وا Allah الر ب took charge of reforming and nurturing us. 22:24 This is one of the greatest blessings. The nurturing is done with different means, اإليمان باهلل such, faith as in the Allah. قرآن Your and faith,سنة will or even life itself, and the universe around us. The messages from the قرآن are not direct, they are Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer derived after pondering and reflecting upon the verses. And they had been guided [in worldly life] to good speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy. The first step is, as for everything, push you to say the best words. In the شريعة, there is always emphasis on purifying the tongue and controlling the utterances. ل د ي ه إ ل ق و ل م ن ي ل ف ظ م ا ع ت يد ر ق يب prepared [to record]. 50:18 Angels are watching all the words coming out of your mouth, and recording them. Allah is All-Seeing and All-Hearing, watching over everyone. These angels have been given the responsibility to write everything, so that on the Day of Judgment, no one can deny their actions.

The thought that Allah is watching you and the angels are writing everything, is a deterrent to say bad words. And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned. 17:36 You are responsible for whatever you hear, see, and your heart, so don't say anything about something you don't have knowledge about. :رضي هللا عنه said to Muadh Ibn Jabal صلى هللا عليه و سلم The Messenger of Allah س ا ل م ر و ع م ود ه و ذ ر و ة س ن ام ه ق ل ت: ب ل ى ي ا ر س ول هللا. Shall I not inform you of the head of the matter, its pillar and its peak? I said, Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He صلى اله عليه و سلم said, The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is the prayer and its peak is jihad. Then he said, Shall I not tell you of the foundation of all of that? I said, Yes, O Messenger of Allah. So he took hold of his tongue and said, Restrain this. I said, O Prophet of Allah, will we be taken to account for what we say with it? He said, May your mother be bereaved of you, O Muadh! Is there anything that throws people into the Hellfire upon their faces or: on their noses except the harvests of their tongues?

Etiquettes of utterances * * * * * Allah : with مع هللا سبحانه و تعالى * * * * * As for the ship, it belonged to poor people working at sea. So I intended to cause defect in it as there was after them a king who seized every [good] ship by force. 18:79 Al-Khadar and Musa عليه الس لم embarked on a ship, and Al-Khadar made a hole in it. When explaining his action to Musa عليه الس لم, he guarded his words while talking about Allah. He didn't attribute making a hole in the }, فاردت أ ن أعيبها { said ship to the decree, or to the command of Allah. He attributing the decision to himself. This is the etiquette of talking about Allah; attribute only good to Allah, and blame yourself for all bad, even though everything is by the decree of Allah. And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience." 18:82 During their travels, Al-Khadar and Musa عليه السالم came upon a village which had very inhospitable people, not willing to help travelers. They عليه saw a wall which was about to collapse, & Al-Khadar rebuilt it. Musa it; admonished him & said they could have charged for repairing السالم }. فأراد ربك { saying whereupon, Al-Khadar attributed it to Allah, by

And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 72:10 We can learn the etiquette of talking about Allah from the jinn too. Prior to the birth of the Prophet Mohammad هللا عليه و سلم,صلى the jinn could descend to the heaven and hear the angels discussing their tasks. They carried this news to Earth, to soothsayers. But then they were stopped from this by stars being thrown on them, forcing them to retreat. This confused them, because they did not know whether this was good or evil. They attributed the good to Allah by saying { أراد بهم ربهم رشدا }. They made the evil into passive sense, not attributing it to anyone, by saying.{ أشر أ ريد { ال ذ ي ي ه د ي ن ف ه و خ ل ق ن ي Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. و إ ذ ا ي ش ف ي ن ف ه و م ر ض ت And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 26:78-80 When Ibrahim عليه السالم spoke about Allah, he said Allah created and guided him, provided for him. But he only attributed the cure to Allah, not the sickness.

** Allah : with the Messenger of مع الن بي صلى هللا عليه و سلم ** O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not. 49:2 Although the above instructions were for the Companions, it is advice صلى هللا for everyone. Do not prefer your opinion above that of the Prophet Send blessings upon him, respect him, obey his sayings and.عليه و سلم traditions. * * * * * parents : with your مع الوالدين * * * * * و ق ض ى ر ب ك أ ل ت ع ب د وا إ ل إ ي اه و ب ال و ال د ي ن إ ح س ان ا إ م ا ي ب ل غ ن ع ند ك ال ك ب ر And أ ح د ه م ا أ و ك ل ه م ا ف ل ت ق ل ل ه م ا أ ف و ل ت ن ه ر ه م ا و ق ل ل ه م ا ق و ل ك ر يم ا your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. 17:23 Choose the best and most honorable words when addressing your parents. Not even a small word like { } must be said to them. [Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? 19:42 The father of Ibrahim spoke respectfully to him, by saying { punishment of Allah. was a disbeliever. In spite of that, Ibrahim عليه السالم }, while warning him about the يا أبت

He was most beloved عليه الس لم spoke very gently to Yusuf عليه الس لم ي ا ب ن ي اذ ه ب وا ف ت ح س س وا م ن ي وس ف و أ خ ي ه و ل ت ي أ س وا م ن ر و ح هللا إ ن ه ي ي أ س م ن ر و ح هللا إ ل ال ق و م ال ك اف ر و ن ل O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people." 12:87 Ya'qoob عليه السالم spoke kindly to his other sons too, even though they had hurt him gravely by taking Yusuf away for his father. * * * * * enemies : with your مع األعداء * * * * * ي خ ش ى أ و ي ت ذ ك ر ل ع ل ه ل ي ن ا ق و ل ل ه ف ق و ل And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [ Allah ]." 20:44 Firaun was the greatest enemy of Musa السالم. He was an evil man, who called himself god. Allah advised Musa to use gentle words even with this evil character, giving him a chance to repent. No one is worse than Firaun in your life, so don't give excuses to yourself when using harsh words in any situation. Soft & gentle words melt a hard heart!!!!!

* * * * * disbelievers : with the مع الكف ار * * * * * و ل ت ج اد ل وا أ ه ل ال ك ت ا ب إ ل ب ال ت ي ه ي أ ح س ن إ ل ال ذ ي ن ظ ل م وا م ن ه م و ق ول وا آم ن ا ب ال ذ ي أ نز ل إ ل ي ن ا و أ نز ل إ ل ي ك م و إ ل ه ن ا و إ ل ه ك م و اح د و ن ح ن ل ه م س ل م و ن And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him." 29:46 The believer is saturated with هللا,صبغة the color of Allah. The tongue specially absorbs the color. The tongue is the door to the heart; whatever is in the heart will appear on the tongue. This is why faith is so important. Don't use words which incite anger even when dealing with disbelievers. * * * * * things : with non-living مع األشياء * * * * * إ ذ و ل و ل د خ ل ت ب اهلل إ ل ق و ة ل هللا م ا ش ا ء ق ل ت ج ن ت ك And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? 18:39 All the creation of Allah, whether living or non-living, must be dealt with the best words. This includes animals and plants. No bad words must emit from the mouth of a believer, in any situation, even when alone. This will make you and everything around you happy.

And say the best words for people 2:83 * * * * * * * * * * * و ق ل ل ع ب اد ي ي ق ول وا أ حس ن ه ي ال ت ي And tell My servants to say that which is best. 17:53
