Zayd زيد بن حارثة \ :إبن هشام Heshaam\ Narrated Ibnu Zayd ben Haarethah ben Sharaaheel ben Ka b ben Abdu Al Uzzaa ben Emre-u Al Qays ben Aamer ben Nu maan ben Aamer ben Abdu Al Wudd ben Awf ben Kenaanah ben Bakr ben زيد بن حارثة بن Awf ben Uthrah ben Zayd Allaat ben Rufaydah ben Taur ben Kalb ben Wabrah شراحيل بن كعب بن عبد العزى بن امرأ القيس بن عامر بن نعيم بن عامر بن عبد الود بن عوف بن كنانة بن بكر بن عوف.بن عذرة بن زيد الالت بن رفيدة بن تور بن كلب بن وبرة \ How زيدZayd may Allaah\ هللا be pleased with him became a slave Al Suhaylee\ السهيلي reported: ثعلبة بن حلوان بن is the son of Tha labah ben Hulwaan ben Haafee ben Qudaa ah وبرة Wabarah\ (Ben Abdu سعدى بنت ثعلبة Tha labah\ is Su daa bentu زيدZayd The mother of.حافي بن قضاعة \.طيء Tayye\ a branch of the tribe of,بني معين Ma een\ of the tribe of Banee (ين عبد عامر Aamer\ His mother took Zayd\ زيد from their village for a visit to her relatives in their tribal territory. While Zayd \ زيد was in the territory of his uncles together with his mother for the visit, this village was attacked by horsemen of the tribe of Banee Al Qayn ben Jesr\ القين بن جسر,بني and Zayd \ زيد was taken as a booty of this attack. They sold Zayd \ زيد in a market of the markets of the Arabs called Hubaasha\.حباش At that time Zayd \ زيد was eight years old. End quotation. How زيدZayd became a slave belonging to the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam Hakeem ben Hezaam ben Khuwayled\ حكيم بن حزام بن خويلد (a nephew of the wife of Prophet Muhammad Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam Khadeejah bentu Khuwayled Mother of the Believers\ المؤمنين خديجة بنت خويلد (أم had come from a business journey from Syria\ سورية back to Makkah Al Mukarramah\ مكة المكرمة with a party of slaves among whom was Zayd \ زيد, then a young man. His aunt, who by that time was the Messenger s wife, Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam, came to see him and he invited her to choose anyone she liked of the young slaves.
2 She choose Zayd \ زيد and took him with her to her home. When the Messenger Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam saw him he asked her to donate him to him. She did so and he Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam freed him and adopted him as his own son. This was before revelation came to him. Zayd s \ زيد father Haarethah\ حارثة was exceeding sorrowful at his loss and mourned him in the following verse: زيد بكيت على ولم أدر ما فعل ف هللاو ما أدري وإني لسائل ويا ليت شعري هل لك الدهر أوبة تذكرنيه الشمس عند طلوعها وإن هبت األرواح هيجن ذكره سأعمل نص القيس في األرض جاهدا حياتي أو تأتي علي منيتي سأوصي به قيسا وعمرو كليهما أحي فيرجى أم أتى دونه األجل أغالك بعدي السهل أم غالك الجبل فحسبي من الدنيا رجوعك لي بجل وتعرض ذكراه إذا غربها أفل فيا طول ما حزني عليه وما وجل والأسأم التطواف أو تسأم اإلبل فكل امرئ فان وإن غره األمل وأوصي يزيد ثم أوصي به جبل I wept over زيدZayd, not knowing what had happened Whether I could hope to see him again or whether he was dead. By هللاAllaah I do not know, often though I ask, Whether he lies dead on hill or plain. Would that I knew if thou would ever return! All that I ask of the world is that you return to me. Sunrise reminds me of him; the sunset brings his memory before me. When the winds blow they stir up thoughts of him. Long will I grieve and fear for him! I shall use the best camels in scouring the land Nor weary of searching though the camels tire, So long as I live till death comes to me. For all must die, though hope deceives men. I will recommend Qays and Amr both And I will recommend Yazeed and Jabal to look for him. Al Suhaylee \ السهيلي said: يزيد بن كعب is Yazeed ben Ka b ben Suraaheel يزيدYazeed Concerning verse number eight: this side. and his brother on mother زيدZayd cousin of )بن شرحيل(. زيدZayd the older brother of,جبل بن حارثةHaarethah is Jabal ben جبلJabal جبلJabal was asked:? زيدZayd Greater / أكبر you or Akbar\ Which one is of the two of you is He replied: زيدZayd is Greater أكبرAkbaru than me and I was born before him.
3 كتاب الطبقات الكبرى إلبن سعدSa d Tabaqaatu Al Kubraa by ibnu :إبن سعد Sa d\ Narrated ebnu (Some time later) Men of the tribe of Zayd\,زيد the Banoo Kalb\ بنوكلب came for Hajj\ الحج and they saw Zayd\ زيد riding behind Prophet Muhammad Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam on his mount, standing at Mount Arafat\ جبل عرفة for Hajj\ الحج as reported by Ebnu Hishaam\ هشام,إبن and they recognized him, and he recognized them. Al Suhaylee\ السهيلي said: They told him the worries and sorrow of his father about him, and recited to him his poem about how he was missing him and how he did not know his whereabouts. Zayd\ زيد said in a loud voice that they could hear to deliver the following message to his family: أحن إلى أهلي وإن كنت نائيا فكفوا من الوجد الذي قد شجاكم فإني بحمد هللا في خير أسرة بأني قعيد البيت عند المشاعر وال تعملوا في األرض نص األباعر كرام معد كابرا بعد كابر The three verses mean: Deliver from me to my family that I am longing for them and that although I am geographically far away from them // That I reside in the Al Mashaa er\ Sacred \المشاعر Districts of the Hajj\ الحج (Makkah\,مكة Arafat etc.).,عرفة \ Therefore do not worry and stop searching me, that exhausted you // And do not travel in the land on the back of camels looking for me. Bu the Grace of Allaah\ هللا I am a member of a Noble Family // That inherit from each other generation after generation nobility and generosity and are the descendent of Ma add\ معد (Grandfather number nineteen of Prophet Muhammad Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam). Haarethah\ حارثة comes to the Prophet Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam When the men of Banoo Kalb\ بنوكلب men delivered his message to his father he said: By the Lord of the Ka bah\ ورب الكعبة this is my son. حارثة They told him his whereabouts and the family he lives with. Then, Haarethah ben Shuraheel carrying the ransom money to free,كعب بن شراحيل Shuraheel\ and his brother K ab ben بن شراحيل \.مكة المكرمة Mukarramah\ came to Makkah Al زيد Zayd\ They inquired about Prophet Muhammad Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam, and were told that he was in the masjed.
4 They went in the masjed and said to him Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam: O son of Abdu Al Muttaleb\ المطلب,عبد O son of Haashem\,هاشم the son of the king of his tribe, you are the people of the Sacred Precinct\ أهل الحرم and the neighbors of the House of Allaah\ بيت هللا,جار you relieve worries and sorrows from those are grieving; you feed the captives; we came to you because of our son that is with you. Do as a favor and accept the ransom money. We will increase his ransom money. The Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam said: Who is your son? They said:.زيد بن حارثة Haarethah\ Zayd ben Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam said: "من هو " What about if we do something other than that? They said: An what is that? Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam said: "فهل لغير ذالك " "دعوه فخيروه فإن إختاركم فهو لكما بغير فداء وإن إختارني فوهللا ما أنا بالذي أختار على من إختارني أحدا." You call him and give him the choice: if he choses you, then he is yours without you paying any ransom money, and if he choses me, by Allaah\ هللا I will not exchange him for money or with anyone else. Haarethah\ andحارثة his brother Ka b\ كعب said: You have ruled justice.
5 Then, Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe sent for Zayd\ زيد and when arrived asked him: Do you know those men? Re replied: Yes. Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam asked: Who are those two men? He replied: This one is my father, and this one is my uncle. Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam said: "هل تعرف هؤالء " "من هما " "فأنا من علمت ورأيت صحبته لك فاخترني أو إخترهما." You know who I am and you know how living with me is: chose me or chose the two. Zayd\ زيد said: I wil stay with you. "بل أقيم معك." At that his father said: O,زيدZayd what are you saying? Do you chose slavery over freedom, and do you chose another person over your father and your mother and you country and your own people? He said: "إني رأيت من هذا الرجل شيئا وما أنا بالذي أفارقه أبدا." Yes! I saw in this man quality that no other man possesses and I will never leave him.
6 زيد بن محمد Muhammad\ Zayd ben At that, the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam, brought زيدZayd to Hejru Ismaa eel\ إسماعيل حجر where the Chiefs of Quraysh\ قريش were sitting and said: " أشهدوا أن هذا إبني وارثا وموروثا." O you all who are present here, be witnesses that زيدZayd is my son, I will inherit him and he will inherit me. At this his father and his uncle had piece of mind and were comfortable with the situation of,زيدzayd and went back to their village. زيدZayd was named Zayd ben Muhammad\ بن محمد,زيد and that was his name until Islam came.زيد بن حارثة Haarethah\ and prohibited adoption and his name became again Zayd ben هللا سبحانه وتعالى Allaah Subaahanu Wa Ta aalaa :األحزاب \ The Aayah means: سورة \ said in Aayah five of Sooratu Al Ahzaab {اد ع وه م آ ل ب ائآ آهم ه و أ ق س ط آعن د الل آه) 5 (} Call them by (The names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allaah\.( 5 )هللا (Quraan 33:5) When this Aayah came down, زيدZayd said:. زيد بن حارثة \ Haarethah I am Zayd ben.محمد Muhammad\ This way he dropped from his name the best father in the world: حب رسول هللا Later he was called also Hebbu Rasooly Allaahe \ meaning The one beloved by the Prophet Sallaa Allaahu Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam for he loved him very much.
7 زيدZayd to هللاAllaah The Compensation from He did this in obedience to Allaah\,هللا and هللاAllaah is Most Kareem\ Generouse /كريم and compensated him by mentioning his first name in the Quraan that is read until the Day of :سورة األحزاب Ahzaab\ Judegement, in Aayah thirty seven of Sooratu Al The Aayah means: {ف ل م ا ق ض ى ز ي د م ن ه ا و ط ر ا) 37 (} Then when زيدZayd had dissolved (His marriage) with her(37). (Quraan 33:37). زيدZayd is the only companion of Prophet Muhammad Sallaa Allaah Alayhe Wa Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam that is mentioned by name in the Quraan!!! هاشم بن محمد السائب Al all this is reported to us Heshaam ben Muhammad Al Ssaa-eb Al Kalbee and others as جميل بن مرثد الطائي Taa-ee\ from his father and from Jameel ben Marthad Al,الكلبي \ well..إبن سعد Sa d\ End quotation from ebne زيد Zayd\ Martyrdom of األردن Jordan\ against the Roman Empire, in غزوة مؤتةMu-tah martyred in the Battle of زيدZayd. هجريةHejree of the year eight جماد اآلولى Oolaa\ today, in the month of Jamaadu Al The Muslim army was made of three thousand mujahedeen while the Roman army was made of two hundred thousand Romans including some Polytheist Arab tribes. زيدZayd was the commander of this Muslim army. He was replaced by Ja far ben Abee Taaleb\ جعفر بن أبي طالب and he martyred as well. Abdu Allaahe ben Rawaahah Al Ansaaree\ عبد هللا بن رواحة األنصاري took command of the army and he was martyred too. Then Khaaled ben Waleed\ خالد بن الوليد was elected by the army to its command and this was his first command post as a Muslim. The town of Mu-tah\ مؤتة is one hundred and fifteen kilometers south of the capital of.عمان Ammaan\ of األردن Jordan\ Xasanwali
