Today's Mass brings that journey to an end, at least as far as our reading of Luke is concerned. To the acclaim of crowds, Jesus enters the city on a colt. But his journey eventually leads him to the Mount of Olives and then to Golgotha and finally to a rock-hewn tomb. We know that this is not the end of the story. There are still other events to be fulfilled. But we will have to wait until we get to Pentecost for that final chapter of Luke's narrative. Like the Mass this weekend, our own journey through life can have its ups and downs. We can be filled with joy one moment and saddled with grief at another. Our Lord and Savior experienced the same. As a human person like us he had joyous times and sad ones as well. The same holds true for those eyewitnesses who Luke speaks of in the introduction to his Gospel. The ones who were with Jesus from the beginning also knew both sorrow and joy. They persisted in the faith, handing down the story of Christ to our day. And in our joys and in our sorrows we pass on the faith as well.

Sharing the Gospel The friends of Jesus made a special parade just for him. The people liked Jesus. He fed them. He healed them. They wanted to crown him king. They were sure that with Jesus in charge, they could live in peace. When you praise God, and when you put Jesus in charge of your life, you really can live with peace in your heart! One day the people were happy, praising Jesus and waving palm leaves to keep him cool. The next day they were spitting on him. They said, "Crucify him. Crucify him." It hurts when your best friend says he or she likes you one day, and hates you the next day. Jesus will never leave your side. He is a true friend. He will always talk and play with you because he loves you. Prayer Dear Jesus, help me to be Your good friend everyday. Amen. Something to Draw Draw people waving palm leaves at Jesus as he rides on a donkey. Mission for the Week Say good words about your family and friends each day..

2016 Annual Catholic Appeal - Share The Joy Of The Gospel The 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal teaches the importance to renew our faith through acts of charity and emphasizes the responsibility parishioners have in supporting their parish, as well as the diocesan ministries, programs and services that are carried out in our communities through the Annual Catholic Appeal. A Catholic Steward reaches out in many ways. Through the Annual Catholic Appeal we support many programs, ministries and services and most importantly, people. This year s theme captures the call to be Church through our Holy Father Pope Francis Encyclical Evangelii Gaudium - The Joy of the Gospel to go forth as a community of missionary disciples who take the first step, who are involved and supportive, who bear fruit and rejoice. We are encouraged in a special way in this 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal to share the Joy of the Gospel: by teaching and modeling Christian values; by practicing works of mercy, charity, and consolation; by giving to the ACA whose ministries and services share our Catholic faith throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Through your ACA donations we share the Joy of the Gospel with our children, our youth and young adults, our sick and elderly. We share the Joy of the Gospel when we help young couples prepare for marriage, prepare for the baptism of their child, prepare their children for First Holy Communion. We share the Joy of the Gospel when we support our seminarians through prayer and financial gifts. When you give a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal your dollars are distributed among the services and ministries that are carried out in our diocese of Brooklyn and Queens and in our parish. Please prayerfully consider the sacrificial pledge you would like to make to our Diocesan Annual Catholic Appeal for this year 2016. Whatever the amount of your gift, it will be accepted with gratitude and deeply appreciated. Thank you, Fr. Gracias, Padre Kenneth J. Grande
