June 17, 2012 8 UCW 50 ANNIVERSARY PROJECT The 50 anniversary project-to raise funds for midwife training courses at e Morogoro Training Centre for Women in Tanzania-is gaering momentum. The cause is to fund midwife training courses for women of e Morogoro Women's Centre, an ecumenical education centre in Tanzania. Each course at Morogoro will train 25 women. One course costs under $20,000 and covers travel, accommodation, food, classes, a medical kit, and a solar LED lighting system. If e UCW is able to raise $50,000, an appropriate goal for our 50 anniversary, we will be able to fund two courses and part of a ird. Our Tapestry of Love As Christians and as United Church Women, we are woven into e fabric of e body of Christ, bound togeer in e woof and weft. The dark colours call us to remember e shadowy places where God s light was hidden and e bright ones remind of our joys and celebrations. God calls us to weave patterns of beauty and wholeness in partnership wi oers. We are called to support and strengen each oer as we interweave our ideas and gifts, working as e hands and feet of God in e world. We are called to mend, to darn, to work and to create a new vision and a new hope for e UCW and all God's people. The woven cross appears to be open at all e ends. They are not bound or finished. So it is wi our tapestry of life. We are open to e spirit, our work is not yet complete. We continue to Witness, Study, Fellowship and Serve.
