Order of Service for the Transfiguration of Our Lord The altar flowers are in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Ron and Peggy Venter, and the 60th wedding anniversary of George and Julie Heidelmeyer Welcome: Pastor Marc E. Nauman Bible Verse for February Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. 2 Corinthians 4:1-2 Children s Blessing (second service) Invocation Pastor: In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Congregation: Amen. Introit Pastor: Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountains, for the Lord our God is holy. The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name he is holy. The King is mighty, her loves justice you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. 2

Congregation: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen. Pastor: Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountains, for the Lord our God is holy. Opening Hymn First Service: #83 O God Of God, O Light Of Light Second Service: Worthy Of Praise (displayed) The Confession and Forgiveness Pastor: Pour out your heart to Him, Congregation: for God is our refuge. Pastor: O my people, Congregation: trust in Him at all times. Pastor: Let all that I am Congregation: wait quietly before God. (Silence for reflection and self-examination) Congregation: Most merciful God, we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have not sought Your refuge as we should. We have not trusted in You at all times. We do not always wait for Your guidance. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us. Amen. Absolution of Sins Hymn of Response First Service: #77 The People That in Darkness Sat Second Service: Nearer My God To Thee (displayed) The Collect of the Day Pastor: O God, in the glorious transfiguration of your only begotten Son you once confirmed the mysteries of the faith by the testimony of the ancient fathers, and in the voice that came from the bright cloud you wondrously foreshowed our adoption by grace. Therefore mercifully make us coheirs with our King of His glory, and bring us to the fullness of our inheritance in heaven; 3

through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Congregation: Amen. The Reading of God s Word: Ephesians 4:11-16 He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Reader: This is the Word of the Lord. Congregation: Thanks be to God. The Gospel: Luke 24:44-48 Then Jesus said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. Elder: This is the Gospel of the Lord. Congregation: Praise to You, O Christ. 4

The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered, and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; His kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Hymn Of The Day First Service: #332 How Precious Is The Book Divine The Message: Our Values, Vision, and Mission Prayers of the Church Pastor: Lord, in Your Mercy Congregation: Hear our prayer! The Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. 5

Song Of The Day Second Service: Holiness Offering Please fill out the red Friendship Folder for your row then pass it to the person next to you. Pastor: Lift up your hearts. Congregation: We lift them to the Lord. Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Congregation: It is right to give Him thanks and praise. Admonition Sharing of the Lord s Peace Sanctus Words of Institution Pastor: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper, he took the cup and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Pax Domini The Peace of the Lord The Distribution of the Bread and Wine 6
