Ephesians1: Safe & Secure!

Transcription:

Deuteronomy 8:5-7 5 You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you. 6 Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; What is the relationship reflected in a father and son Deuteronomy 32:18 Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten the God who fathered you. Explain God's relationship. Jeremiah 3:14 Return, O backsliding children, says the LORD; for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. Who is God talking about? John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. Jesus is what to God? THE FAMILY OF GOD Compiled by Lewis Armstrong John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. What concerned the Jews? John 6:27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him. For what kind of food do we need to labor? John 6:45-46 It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. Explain how Jesus has seen God. John 8:41-42 You do the deeds of your father. Then they said to Him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father God. Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. If we love God, what? John 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God. What does the father do? John 10:36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God?) Why did Jesus say about the Father? 1

John 13:3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, What had God given to Jesus? John 16:27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God. Why does our Father love us. John 20:17 Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. What did Jesus say? Acts 2:33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. What did the Father promise? Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. God did what? Acts 3:25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Through Abraham's seed what will happen? Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Acts 7:20 At this time Moses was born, and was well pleasing to God; and he was brought up in his father s house for three months. Acts 15:10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? What was happening? Acts 22:14 Then he said, The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. Who has chosen us? Acts 24:14 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets. What are we to believe? Romans 1:7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord What are we to receive from the father? Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father. What is the spirit of adoption? 2

Romans 8:23 Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. Explain why we are waiting? Romans 8:31-39 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-39 a. We are God's what? b. What cannot separate us from God? Romans 15:6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Who are to have what? 1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Explain what we receive from God. I Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. God has what? 1 Corinthians 15:24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. What will Christ do? 2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Explain how we get our adoption. Galatians 4:4-7 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father! 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. How do we become sons? 3

Ephesian 1:5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, Explain how we are adopted. Ephesians 5:20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, What are we to do? Philippians 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Relate confessing Christ to the glory of God. Philippians 4:20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. What belongs to God. Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord How would this encouragement help the saints at Colosse? Colossians 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, Being knit together does what? Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. We give thanks to the father when we do what? 1 Thessalonians 1:1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord How were the saints encouraged by Paul's statement? 1 Thessalonians 1:3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, What thing do we know that God is seeing. 1 Thessalonians 3:13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints. What can God do to our hearts? 2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, Explain what God has given us.. 2 Timothy 1:2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. What three things does Paul mention here? Titus 1:4 To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. What did Paul and Titus have in common? 4

Philemon 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord What does Paul say comes from God? Hebrews 12:7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? How does God want to deal with us? 1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Explain our relationship with God. Jude 1:1 Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ: What does God do for us? How important is being in the family of God? 5
