Series at a Glance for Kid-O-Deo (continued) : Take care of the land When God made this world, he gave us a job to do. We get to explore, learn about, and live in this world, but that also means we need to treat it well. This week, we ll hear the story of how God gave Adam and Eve an important job, and learn that taking care of our world is a wise choice. Lesson 2: Trusting God Job was a good guy, but he still had big problems. When bad things started to happen to Job, he was confused. Job s friends and family tried to get him to give up on God, but Job refused. Even when he didn t understand what God was doing, Job trusted him. That s a wise choice we can make, too! Lesson 3: Obey your ma and pa God asked a man named Noah to do something that seemed really weird. Even though Noah lived in the desert, God told him to build a huge boat! This week, we ll talk about how we can learn from Noah s obedience to God, and make the wise choice to obey your parents. Lesson 4: Telling the truth Zacchaeus the tax collector wasn t known for telling the truth. In fact, he would lie about how much money he took from people and keep the extra for himself. All that changed, though, when Zacchaeus met Jesus. Because Jesus treated him like a friend, Zacchaeus saw how important it is to tell the truth, and it changed his life. Lesson 5: Spend time praying Esther was in a dangerous place. She had to try to convince a king to change his mind, something kings don t like to do. When Esther needed help, she made the wisest possible choice, and turned to God. Just like Esther, we can get God s help whenever we need it! Lesson 6: Help around the homestead Responsibility is a big, but very important word, that means doing what you are asked to do. Jesus told a story about being responsible. He showed that when you do your best, people will trust you with more. If we make a wise choice and do what we are asked to do, even little things like chores, we can be trusted with more! That s the wise choice of responsibility. 3

It s time for the Bible Adventure! Bible Adventure Jingle Going on a Bible Adventure is awesome, but there s something special that every cowpoke needs for it! What do we really, really need for a Bible Adventure? A BIBLE! Do This: Show kids the Bible. Right! We need a Bible for our Bible Adventure! Kid-Os, I have another important question for you. Are the stories in the Bible real or pretend? REAL! Yes! What we read about in the Bible really, truly happened. Do This: Get the Bible storybook out and sit down in the chair. This story I m going to tell you comes from the Bible, but we use this storybook because the pictures help us imagine what it might have looked like back when the Bible was written. The pictures you see in here are the same as the ones on the screen. Settle in, wranglers, and let s get started! Do This: Have kids help you turn the pages on the screen with an exaggerated arm wave. Picture 1: Empty earth 6
After God created the world, bushes had not yet appeared on the earth. Plants had not started to grow, and the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth. Picture 2: Garden of Eden (trees, river, etc?) God planted a garden in a place called Eden. Eden was a special place, full of lots of beautiful fruit trees. At that time, God placed a river in the garden to water it. Picture 3: Adam and Eve in Eden But there was no one to farm the land! God placed Adam, the first man he created, in Eden. God put him there to farm its land and take care of it. God also made a woman named Eve to be Adam s wife and help him take care of the land. Picture 4: Animals The Lord God had formed all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He had made all of them out of the ground. He brought them to Adam to see what names he would give them. And the name Adam gave each living creature became its name. Series Title Slide: Kid-Os, that was a cool story! God created a beautiful place for Adam and Eve to live, and he wanted them to take care of the land. But for now, we re done with our Bible Adventure. Great job listening, Kid-Os! Now that we ve finished the Bible Adventure, it s time to get on our horses and ride on over to the Memory Verse! Everyone stand up and get on your horses. On the count of three, everyone say, Yee Haw! One, two, three! YEE HAW! Do This: Imitate riding a horse and swinging a lasso. Make this really fun and engaging for the Kid-Os! Tech: Hit the Yee Haw! SFX when the teacher counts to three. Then, wait a few seconds and go right into the jingle. Yee Haw!! SFX 7
Memory Verse 3:00 Memory Verse Jingle (Auto advance Memory Verse) Proverbs 9:10- If you want to become wise, you must begin by respecting the Lord. Here in Kid-O-Deo, we practice a memory verse because knowing words that are in the Bible helps us learn things about God! This is the first time we re learning this memory verse, so everyone turn on your listening ears! Do This: Read the verse from the screen. Kid-Os, let s all stand up on our feet and practice our Memory Verse! Since this is the first time we are learning this verse, listen and watch me do the actions once. Then we can all start practicing it together! Do This: Practice the verse with the Kid-Os 2-3 times. Know This: The actions are: (Open your Bibles) Proverbs 9:10. If you want to become wise (point to your head), you must begin (put right fist in left hand), by respecting the Lord (point upward). Great job practicing your Memory Verse, Kid-Os! Our verse tells us that we need to have respect for the Lord. We will talk more about that later! Worship 3:00 Kid-Os, stay standing! We can learn about God every day, and there are many ways to do that. Right now, let s learn about God by singing this song together. Song 2: Praise the Lord Everyday (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: 8
Application 5:00 Do This: Start digging in your bag while you begin speaking. Throw out the paper and other junk on the stage as you speak. Be dramatic! I love singing with you, Kid-Os! Please sit down. Our memory verse says that if we want to be wise, we need to start by respecting God. Today I want to talk about one way that we can show God respect! We heard in our Bible story that God created the earth and wanted Adam and Eve to take care of it. He wants us to take care of it too! But Kid-Os, right now, I m not doing a very good job of that am I? What am I doing when I throw trash on the ground? LITTERING! Right, I m littering, and that is not taking care of the land. I guess I better clean this up! While I do that, let s look at some pictures and see what it looks like to take care of the land. Image: Littering Kid-Os, this is a terrible mess! People have just thrown their trash all over the place! Does this look like they are taking care of God s land? NO! Image: Kids picking up Jenny and her friends know that God wants us to take care of the land so they asked some grownups if they could work together to clean up the big mess. Good job, Jenny! Image: Paper cup Matt s dad brought him to the drive-through for dinner after his soccer game. When he finished his drink, Matt opened the window and threw the cup out as his dad drove home! Kid-Os, raise your hand if you know what Matt should have done instead. 9
Image: Recycling Instead, Matt could ask his dad to stop somewhere to throw the up away, or he could even hold on to the cup until they get home and throw it in the garbage there. Image: Kids with tree branches Kid-Os, Katie and her friends were playing, and saw some pretty trees and flowers. They decided to pick all the flowers, and break all the branches off of the trees to play with. Was that taking good care of the world? NO. No, let s see what they could have done instead. Image: Kids playing in a field. We should try not to hurt plants, because they are an important part of our world. We can pick a few flowers to give to someone like our grown-ups, but we should leave most of them in the ground so they can keep growing. And we should find sticks on the ground, and not take them off of a living tree, because that would hurt it. Let s hear one more story! Image: Kid growing a garden. Over the summer, Mikey and his grown-ups decided to start growing a garden! Is that a good way to take care of the land? YES! Yes it is. With your grown-ups help, you can even do that right now! You could grow flowers, or even food, and learn a lot about what plants need to live and grow. That was God s first job for Adam and Eve, taking care of a garden! Kid-Os, everyone can take care of the land, even you! When we take care of the land, we help keep it healthy for us to live in. We also help the land to continue looking beautiful, just like God made it! When we take care of the land, we are showing respect to God, and that is wise, just like our Bible memory verse said! 10
It s time once again to mount our trusty steeds, that means hop on our horses, and ride on over to our Big Idea! Everyone get up! Get on your horses and when I count to three, you know what to do! One, two, three! YEE HAW! Yee Haw! SFX Big Idea 2:00 Big Idea Jingle Whew! Nice riding, Kid-Os! Our Big Idea helps us remember and think more about what we have been learning today. Now, let s all ride our horses on over to Kid-O-Whampus! Hop on and remember to say, Yee Haw! when I count to three! One, two, three! YEE HAW! Yee Haw! Prayer 2:00 That was so much fun! You can all sit down. Do This: Show kids the family connection card and the memory verse card. This is the family connection card. As you leave, make sure your grown-ups get one of these, so they can learn about all the fun we ve had in Kid-O-Deo! We also have a new memory verse card for you. This will help you remember the verse we learned today while you are at home! Let s Pray Now it s time to talk to God. Do you know what we call it when we talk to God? PRAYER. That s right, we call talking to God praying. God is the best friend we could ever have, and he loves it when we talk to him. God will always listen when you pray, because he created you and he loves you. You can pray anytime and anywhere, but here in Kid-O-Deo we fold our hands in our laps and close our eyes, to help us only think about the words we are saying to God. If you want, you can repeat the words of this prayer after me. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for giving us the beautiful earth! Help us to take care of the land. Amen. Kid-O-Deo Slide It s been super spending time with you, cowpokes! Now it s time for you to go back to your classrooms where you will get into groups with your leader and other Kid- Os, have a snack, and do a fun activity. See you later! 12
