Special birthday greetings go out to Ms. Lucy Leszczuk, who is celebrating her birthday today. We truly appreciate Lucy s contribution as a soloist in our Ukrainian choir. She also sings with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. We also greet Mr. Volodymyr Logvynyuk, who is celebrating his birthday today. Volodymyr is a member of our Board of Trustees and, together with his wife and 3 children, are very active members of our parish family. Mnohaya Lita! Prayers and condolences are offered to the family of Valentina Sidelnyk, who entered into eternity on May 19 th at the age of 93, following a lengthy illness. Our Brotherhood announces that it has decided to change the Man of the Year award to Parishioner of the Year. It will be awarded to the recipient at our St. Vladimir Feast Day Dinner in July. Applications for this award are available in the church and parish offices. Please participate by nominating someone who is active in all aspects of parish life, beginning with their participation in our Divine Services. Please notify the clergy if a family member is admitted to the hospital. Remember only the Parma Hospital notifies the clergy of any parishioners admitted and then, only if the parishioner registers as a member of St. Vladimir s. Also, parishioners who would like a home visit are asked to contact the clergy and make their wishes known. Parents: Please notify the parish clergy or office if your child is graduating high school or college this year. We would like to recognize them in a future edition of the bulletin. On Monday, May 23 rd, our parish hosted the quarterly meeting of the Parma Ministerial Forum. We are most grateful to Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk, Mrs. Carole Holobinko, Ms. Ludmilla Rowinsky and Mrs. Sally Morgan for providing refreshments and true Christian hospitality. Please note that, because of the joy of the Paschal Season, there is NO kneeling in church from Pascha until Pentecost Sunday Ukrainian American Veterans Annual Memorial Day Collection Today the Ukrainian American Veterans will be passing out poppies and collecting money before both Divine Liturgies. All money will be given to needy and disabled veterans at local V.A. Hospitals. Please support this worthy cause. On Memorial Day, tomorrow, May 30 th, as in past years, our clergy will begin serving individual graveside services at 7:30 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., a general panachyda will be served in front of the center cross. Individual services at the graves and mausoleum will resume after the general service. Plan to attend to remember family members and parishioners. The Ukrainian Cultural Arts Association invites everyone to attend its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, June 5 th at 7:00 p.m. at the Breen Center for the Arts (St. Ignatius High School), 3000 Lorain Avenue (at W. 30 th ) in Cleveland. The Kashtan Dance Ensemble and Zorya Women s Ensemble will be performing. Tickets are available at the door for $10.00. The Third Annual St. Herman House Golf classic will be held on June 24, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Hinckley Hills Golf Course, 300 State Road in Hinckley, Ohio. All Saints provides an invaluable ministry to our Church family and we encourage everyone to become involved by supporting the camp. Over the last year, 70 individuals assisted a core team of leaders in writing a Strategic Plan for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. The group analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for the Church using feedback returned from members all across the diocese. The plan includes 25 Strategic Goals (and the Action Plans to achieve those goals) spread across the following 9 Strategic Areas of Focus: 1. Administration 2. Clergy 3. Communications 4. Education 5. Family and Youth 6. Healthy Parishes 7. Outreach and Evangelism 8. Stewardship 9. Technology The leadership of the Church and the Strategic team authored overall statements identifying the Mission and Vision of the church: Statement of Why: We embrace those who hunger for love, comfort, fulfillment and hope. Mission Statement: The Mission of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA is to offer healing, comfort, wholeness, spiritual fulfillment and joy as we work together to reveal the beauty of God s creation by proclaiming and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Vision Statement: The Vision of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA is to transform lives through Christ-centered, compassionate and welcoming communities that embody Sacred Scripture and Holy Tradition while serving and ministering to people as they navigate contemporary life. This Strategic Plan will be presented in detail at the Sobor on Friday, October 21, 2016. The Implementation Phase of the Strategic Planning initiative will begin shortly thereafter, and last for the next three years. Monday, May 30 th is Memorial Day Memorial Day was created to honor those who gave their lives in service to our nation and to reflect on the blessings of freedom. Let us unite to thank the courageous men and women who paid with their lives so that we could enjoy this Memorial Day and every day in freedom. Remember also the men and women who are presently serving in the military throughout the world. May the Lord bless and protect them and their families. GOD BLESS AMERICA! On this Memorial Day weekend, let us pause in prayer to remember the thousands of American soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice so that we might enjoy the freedom that we so often take for granted. Let us not forget those brave men from our parish who gave their lives in defense of that freedom.
