Page 4 Ap p r e c i a ti o n P a r t y! Saturday, Febuary 4 5:00-7:30 (In the School Gymnasium) Be sure to respond by January 28th so we can count you in! Volunteers are people who are willing to give of themselves time, talent, treasure for the good of the whole community. Volunteers do not get paid for what they do. Many people volunteer at St. Florian and for this we are most grateful. Please come and enjoy dinner and a fun time as our way of saying thank you for all you do! (Spouses welcome) 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time A big thank you to all who took part in the "To Teach Who Christ Is" Campaign. We appreciate your generosity. The Archdiocese credits us every month with 60% of your CURRENT payments. Some people are DRAMATICALLY delinquent in their payments which slows down our goal. We really can't move forward until we receive most of the funds for the boiler. If you have any questions about your payments, please call the Archdiocese at 312-534-8500. Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor If you are new to the parish, stop in the rectory to register. Volunteer Appreciation Party ADULTS ONLY Saturday - February 4, 2017 Yes, I have volunteered my time and talent and will attend the celebration! Name(s): Number ofadults attending: (Please reply via the collection basket or at the rectory) ST. FLORIAN CHURCH is now on Facebook Information and events will be posted on the Florian Hegewisch user page. We are looking for about four garden rocks (real or faux) medium or large, for the area on the south side of Konsowski Hall. If you have any that you aren't using any more and would or could donate, we would appreciate it. Fr. Robert SVDP DROP OFF BINS The Saint Vincent de Paul clothing bins (located In our parking lot behind the church) are strictly for clothing and shoes ONLY. All bundles should be bagged and tied. Nothing should be left outside the bins. If bins are full, please come back the following week. Bins are emptied on a regular basis. Anything left outside bins will be destroyed by the weather which makes it useless to everyone. People have been rummaging through the bins and ripping the bags open and taking out clothing. If anyone sees this please remind them that the clothing is for people who are in need.

January 29, 2017 Feast of St. Blaisé Friday, February 3rd is the Feast ofst. Blaisé. In memory of St. Blaisé, throats will be blessed after the morning Mass. This custom began in the 16th century and continues today in many Catholic communities. Blaisé is the patron of sore throats. Throats are blessed with two unlit candles in the form of an X as the minister invokes the blessing of St. Blaisé. Page 5 Feast of the Presentation of the Lord You only need to do this once. Ifyou have already submitted your email address, you do not need to do it again. Thursday, February 2nd is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord which occurs forty days after Christmas. On this day candles will be blessed and lit as we process into church. If you have candles at home that you would like blessed, please bring them on that day. If you do not have candles, please take one from the basket at the church entrance and return it to the basket after Mass. This day is also known as Candelmas Day with its rite ofblessing and the procession with lighted candles which begins the Liturgy. Please join us for this beautiful feast on Thursday, February 2nd at the 8:00am morning Mass. What does it mean to be a Parishioner?
