PRESIDENT S ADDRESS Gaavwalon! This month has been a month full of district events and the beginning of Green Leaf. The district PD session with an amazing salsa workshop, followed by the district Sports Meet, followed by a visit to 'Clean Garbage' and the donation of a Parabolic Solar Cooker to 'Avani', an orphanage in Kolhapur sums up the eventful 1st month of a brand new year. The next month we'll have our Nomination committee election and hopefully, a brand new President elect too!! Also, a visit to the Kala Ghoda Art festival on the 8th and the whole of February would be dedicated to Green Leaf! Excitement is on the rise. Stay tuned for more updates! -RTR GIRIJA KELE, PRESIDENT.

DISTRICT PD SESSION FILM MAAKING The Rotaract District 3131 had arranged a program on 4th January 2015 where different aspects regarding various subjects were discussed. One of the sessions was on Film Making where various techniques of film making were discussed. They also discussed how the techniques changed from time to time. New ideas were used and different experiments were carried out.thus, film making went on changing its ways and directions. Modified thoughts, scientific and engineering ideas were used which have given wide scope in implementing various ideas. This change is significant and continued process till date. - RTR. SONALI PHADKE

DISTRICT PD SESSION SUCCESS MANTRA There was also a session on Success Mantra. Success is always having high sensation value. It is not very hard but it requires sincerity. It also requires attention on opportunities. The concept of grabbing opportunities was discussed in great detail and was very interesting. The speaker stressed on being happy and comfortable with what is achieved. The entire program was very nicely arranged and everyone was happy to participate and be a part of it. - RTR. SONALI PHADKE

DISTRICT PD SESSION SALSA WORKSHOP An energetic and refreshing session was conducted by our district on the emerging and popular dance form ; Salsa. The session was organized by district 3131 on 4th Jan 2015 at Karnatak High School. The session was conducted by two young professional salsa dancers- Saumya and Varun. Most of the Rotaractors were learning salsa for the first time, however both the instructors were very skillful and patient while teaching us. They first explained the background of 'Salsa' about its origination, its discovery etc. Then they made two groups of boys and girls as both parties have their specific different actions. Then they showed us basic steps of Salsa very effectively. They made us realize the importance of body posture in this dance form. They made us practice those steps for a couple of times till we reached perfection.

DISTRICT PD SESSION SALSA WORKSHOP After practicing, they asked us to pair up. The boys were made to ask the girl for a dance and practice their steps together. One of the important things was that both instructors never failed to appreciate and encourage us strongly. At the end of the session, they both gave a wonderful and professional performance. I am sure that due to this workshop every participant will seek and learn Salsa and will make their way to happiness. - RTR. SIDDHI RALE

DISTRICT SPORTS MEET Sports meet at Shahu college campus having games like Cricket and athletics.

INTERCLUB CULTURAL YOUTH EXCHANGE- SURAT MAJJANU LIFE...!!!I

INDUSTRIAL VISIT- CLEAN GARBAGE Rotaract Club of Sinhgad Road had arranged an Industrial visit to CLEAN GARBAGE a company that recycles biodegradable as well as non biodegradable waste on 17th January 2015. The owner of the company was very generous & welcoming. He showed us the detailed work that goes into processing of biodegradable and also the non-biodegradable waste. I never knew processing garbage would be so interesting! At first they process the dry waste into pellets and those pellets are used as fuel, or used for bio-gas production with the help of microbial culture. The by-product of the process is then used as manure to the plants and collected by the same farmers who supply the dry waste collected on their farms. Whereas for the non biodegradable waste specially plastics, are basically collected and compressed over there. And transported to an industry they work with for the production of buckets, flower pots etc. The compression helps in reducing the transport costs by three times.

They then showed us a presentation they had made to make us understand the critical condition improper garbage disposal has left us in! The islands cropping up in the oceans due to the improper disposal at seas, the un-even growth of animals due to some pieces of plastic stuck on their body, and not to mention the loss of numerous fish due to the pollution in our rivers. The have conducted several seminars and events in schools to spread awareness among the younger generation with the hope that it can be brought under control. On a pre-decided day every month, they ask the kids to bring plastics from home and they pay the school for every kilo of plastic collected. These funds are added to the school s environmental fund and they guide the schools on using the funds for further plans. CLEAN GARBAGE believes in the concept of 4R: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Recollect. Without Recollection, the whole process falls apart is what they go by. It has been a great experience to get an insight on this global issue! RTR. SARPITA DAS.

COMMUNITY PROJECT PARABOLIC SOLAR COOKER DONATION TO AVANI FOUNDATION

RELATIONSHIPS FROM ENGINEER S PERSPECTIVE We all have learned trigonometry in our school life. There used to be... I mean it is still there and so is our favorite sine Ɵ. Now, as we know, love is a very interesting thing in our life but when we relate the same sine wave to our love life interesting things come up... who knows tomorrow some mathematician may come up to you and say if you stay strong at 0 in your relation then it will be long lasting or maintain wave length of this many days to keep joy in relation. From sine wave we understand why no one can always love someone with constant tempo for longer time. Love for our special person can be plotted on y axis and time period of relation on x axis. More the amplitude we have, the more we love our special someone. But it also fluctuates with high frequency. The faster it goes up, the quicker it comes down and so on up down, up down, up down. So similarly when we have less amplitude i.e. moderate love which grows over time and lasts longer. So when we relate the crest and trough of sine wave with time period, things goes as follows.

When we meet someone new it starts with Ɵ=0 0. Whereas if its love at first sight it starts just before 0, now as we start meeting or interacting that special someone for may be any silly excuses, Ɵ gradually starts moving towards 0. When it reaches the 0, it s the point when our love for that person is at peak. It is at that point where many new comers propose there love or express their feelings and experiences decides to hold on their feelings. Now here comes the twist in few cases it gets accepted but in many it gets rejected and for them whose proposal get accepted their downturn starts. And for those whose proposal get rejected hold on to next article ;). Area under the crest shows the love in relations and it varies as per the wavelength of that relation. This wavelength can vary from hours to years. Now as we starts moving ahead towards 0. Things starts like We starts getting irritated from our love s small small mistakes and daily routines and finally we reach to 0. Where we are in most confused state of mind and we starts asking questions like kya maine galati toh nahi ki naa.whether we still want to keep it going or not?. If we still continue our curve starts moving towards 0 and we towards point where it doesn t make any difference to us whether that person even alive or not.

Those who survive this realize how far we have reached and efforts are starts to reach 360 0 at least but as soon upwards trends starts. Boom. Break up..!! HOW???.. why??. The reason hides in beginning of this article. Just like our wave she also has her own wave of emotions which either lead or lag our wave with certain time interval on x axis. Now the intersection of this waves at critical points decides the outcomes like intersection at the time of expressing your emotions or intersections at the time of misunderstandings. They either make or break the relations. Here, not only wavelength but amplitude as well makes the huge difference on timing of mating points. And finally for those lucky couples who are able to pass through the 270 degree and being able to push the graph successfully towards 360 degree finds their relationship blooming again towards new heights!! To repeat the cycle again ;) -KOSAC
