To complement Jacqui WindsorThe Parish of The Sacred Heart, Tisbury, and All Saints, Wardour Minutes of Annual General Meeting 19:00 Friday 11 th May 2018 In the absence of Fr Robert, Deacon Michael Hughes took the chair. The meeting began with a prayer. Apologies were received from Jenny Malone Lee, Venetia Wright and the Connollys. There were no objections to the minutes of last year s AGM Parish Pastoral Council Last year s members are willing to stay on for another year. Honoria Connolly had stated she was willing to join the PPC and this was agreed. A list of members is attached. The scope of the PPC covers all the concerns of the parish such as finance, buildings development, support for the young in their faith, music, social events and the School. Some members bring dedicated skills as heads of subgroups see the reports that follow. Parishioners who wish to join or to contribute to a particular topic would be welcomed. Reports Finance (Robert Vaux) The accounts for the year (attached) were presented. They are more or less in balance. The cost of refurbishing West End House (parish rooms and flat above) will rise as there is no matching income for now. Grants and gifts included support for the school. Smoke detectors have been installed in Trellis House. The line for visiting priests includes small donations and fuel for those from outside the Deanery. Social Group (Sheila MacDermot) See attachment; no questions 1Available on www.tisburywardourparish.org

Parish Youth Work (Catherine Vaux) The report is attached. No questions Fabric and Finance (Mark Shuldham) The plans for the development of the Trellis house site have been scaled down. The intention is to refurbish West End House to make improved parish rooms (more usable space, lavatory and basic kitchen), a flat for the priest and a parish office. Trellis House would be let. The development would be funded by selling plots of land. Following a competitive process Ralph Perry Robinson has been appointed to draw up plans and negotiate with the planners. Good progress is being made. The planners are asking for access alternatives, a drainage survey, an archaeological survey and a tree survey. The Tisbury Parish Council and the Chairman of the Playing Field Committee have been consulted. Little money has been spent so far. The Diocese has been asked for bridge funding but will need more detail than we can provide at the moment. Round Up (Mark Shuldham for Fr Robert) There is a danger that the PPC focuses too much on building at the expense of pastoral and spiritual initiatives. As well as the PPC a large number of parishioners contribute to keeping the parish going..particular thanks are due to: All the Eucharistic Ministers and those who offer to read the Lessons and prayers Nick Weeks for running the Lenten Gospel study groups Frank Stratton as Sacristan and with Jamie Clark and Andy Bazen arranging servers Teresa Frost who is in charge of cleaning and music Sheila Whatley and her team for the wonderful flowers Catherine Vaux and Jenny Malone Lee for their work with the children s liturgy John Bell who is always willing to help out with any number of practical jobs Deacon Michael for all his encouragement and support over the past year Deacon Michael gave a brief summary of his role. He is a Deacon in the Diocese of Plymouth and among other things works training Deacons in giving sermons. He helps the Parish Priest at Wincanton, particularly in the small church in Mere. He lives in our Parish. 2Available on www.tisburywardourparish.org

Points from the floor It was suggested that Fr Robert might have a secretary to complement Jacqui Windsor. The Intentional Disciple initiative: there were 28 people present at the launch on Wednesday. It is seen as core to the Mission of the Church. The meeting ended with a prayer AM 3Available on www.tisburywardourparish.org

Parish Youth Work We have four candidates for Confirmation this year. Deacon Michael teaches them in Shaftesbury after school on Tuesdays. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be June 6 th In Salisbury. There are eight candidates for First Holy Communion. Again this year, sessions are after the 9am Mass with CV, Jenny Wright and Jenny Malone-Lee. The Sacrament of Eucharist is 20 th May at Wardour Chapel and their Communion breakfast afterwards in Wardour School Hall, kindly arranged by the Social Committee. After First Holy Communion we will go on meeting monthly as a group after Mass on Sundays to continue their (our) journey of faith. The younger children s Liturgy during 9am Mass is a work in progress for the moment but we intend to reintroduce it soon. More helpers are always welcomed. Our Youth Masses have centred around those receiving sacraments this year but we have included others too. An important part of this is socialising afterwards and getting to know parishioners this has really begun to take off (aided by families baking skills too!) Thank you to all parishioners for your kindness and positive comments about these occasions which may look a little chaotic at times! Our school links: St David s class came to Sacred Heart last term with their teachers. About ten parishioners came to tell the children about their role in the Parish. Deacon Michael helped enormously by linking it all together. The Social Committee gave them a drink and snacks afterwards. We have had School Masses each term in the Hall. Yesterday afternoon there was an Ascension Mass- parishioners are very welcome and it was good to see some there. Notes for the diary Sunday 2 nd September is likely to be the blessing of the school bags and other accoutrement Saturday 8 th September will be the Community Fair- not a jumble sale but the usual cake stalls/bookstall/ plants/super teas and so on in the garden of Trellis House.
