Academic Qualifications: Curriculum Vitae Graduated with Philosophy honors in 1975 and Masters in Philosophy in 1977 from Gauhati University. Completed doctoral degree from the Banaras Hindu University in 1985. Visited Warwick University, UK, in 1983-84 and worked for the major parts of the thesis on Sufficient Reason and Will: A Study in the Philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer under the guidance of Prof. A. Phillips Griffiths, a well known Schopenhauerian scholar. Subsequently, visited the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, as a Rakham visiting scholar (95-96) to work with Prof. David Hills. Received the ICPR (Indian Council of Philosophical Research) postdoctoral research fellowship in 1988 and was associated with the Philosophy Programme of the School of Languages, Jawaharlal Nehru University. However, in 1989 received the U.G.C (University Grants Commission s) Research Associateship at the same center at J.N.U (Jawaharlal Nehru University) and continued as a postdoctoral fellow at JNU until October 1992 when she was appointed as Lecturer in the department of Philosophy in Deshbandhu College (Delhi University). Her topic of research was on Schopenhauer s philosophy (Sufficient Reason and Will: A Study in the Philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer ). Received Faculty Research Fellowship from the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) in June 2003 and visited the University of Guelph, Ontario. Worked on "George Grant and M. K. Gandhi on technology and modernism: a comparative study" under the guidance of Prof. William Christian. Visited the St Mary s University of Halifax for orientation course in Canadian studies in May 2003. Visited the University of Mainz, Germany on the invitation from the Schopenhauer Research Center in June 2003. Presented paper on Schopenhauer and Michael Krausz. in the World Congress of philosophy held at Turkey in 2003 August with a sponsorship of ICPR. Presented paper on Ideas of Gandhi and George Grant: A comparison in the International conference of ICCS (International Council for Canadian Studies) at the Calgary University Campus, Canada in August 2004. And was invited by the department of philosophy of the University of Calgary, Canada to deliver a lecture on Schopenhauer s problem of the Will-Intellect Relationship: A solution from Sankara s Advaita Vedanta in August 2004.

Award of Scholarship for Study Abroad: a) Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG= German Research Foundation) I have been awarded a research fellowship for 3 months to pursue my post doctoral research on Sankara and Schopenhauer: A comparative study in the Schopenhauer Research Center, University of Mainz, Germany which commenced from June 2006 to 10 th October 2006 Prof Matthias Kossler, Director of the Schopenhauer Research Center, University of Mainz, was my academic supervisor for the project. b) Faculty Research Fellowship by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) to visit Canada for 5 weeks from18th May to 22 nd June 2003. I visited the University of St. Mary s, Halifax for the summer institute s course of SICI on Canadian Studies from 20 th to 23 rd May and then from 23 rd May to 22 nd June I visited the University of Guelph, Ontario. I had worked with Prof. William Christian on my project "George Grant and M. K. Gandhi on technology and modernism: a comparative study". c) Government of India's National Scholarship for Study Abroad in 1981-82. I got admission in Edmonton University, Alberta, Canada but could not avail of it as I had to go to Warwick University, UK. d) Racham visiting scholar at University of Michigan, USA, during 1995-96. 3. Visiting Foreign Universities: Visited the University of Warwick, U.K., in 1983-84 while doing Ph. D at B.H.U and worked for further refinement and modification of my Ph. D thesis on Schopenhauer s philosophy under the supervision of Professor A. Phillips. Griffiths, who was then the Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy, University of Warwick, U. K. During the academic year of 1995-96, I visited the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, as a Rackham visiting scholar. I worked for my post-doctoral research under the supervision of Professor David Hills to work on Schopenhauer. I have visited the University of Mainz, Germany from 23 rd June to 29 th June 2003 to consult the Schopenhauer Research center at the invitation of the President of the Schopenhauer Gesellschaft myself being the founder Director of the Indian division of the Schopenhauer society in India to work out the framework of a collaborative research project with Prof Kossler on Schopenhauer and Sankara. I have visited the University of Guelph, Canada as the Shastri scholar for 4 weeks in May-June 2003. I have visited the University of Mainz, Germany from 2 nd June to 1 st August 2006 and then again from 16 th September to 10 th October 2006 under the DFG fellowship programme to pursue Indo-German collaborative research project on Schopenhauer and Sankara: A

Comparative study with Prof Matthias Kossler. The DFG of Germany has awarded me a fellowship for 3 months for my research work & consultation in the Schopenhauer Research center and the Schopenhauer Archives at Germany for the project. I had been to Belgrade during October 2007 to present my paper on George Grant and M K Gandhi in the Third International Conference on Canadian Studies, University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia; (Plenary Session) October 20, 2007. I had been to Seoul National University, Korea to take part in the XXIInd World Congress of Philosophy (during 30 th July- 5 th August 2008). On behalf of the Schopenhauer Gesellschaft Germany, the Indian Schopenhauer society and the Japan Schopenhauer society jointly organized a one day meeting of the society during the world congress including a poster session, a Round table and a paper presentation session. Besides I had also presented my paper on Schopenhauer and Sanakara in the world congress on 3 rd August 2008. 4. Present Occupation: Associate Professor, Philosophy Department, Deshbandhu College, Delhi University since July 1998. I teach the following courses in Philosophy at under graduate level- Indian Philosophy, Western philosophy, Ethics: theory and Practice, Metaphysics & Epistemology, Ethics for Public Domain, Philosophical Debate. I taught the following courses at the post-graduate level- Ethics (Mill) and History of Philosophy (Hegel) at Delhi University, South Campus under the co-operative teaching program during the academic session 2002-3. 5. International Seminar on "Metaphysics in the 21 st Century: With Special reference to Michael Krausz organized by the Philosophy Department, Delhi University, which was held at Delhi University in January 2001(I was in the organizing committee). 4. Seminar on "The history of Indo-German cultural relations" at the Philosophy Department of Guwahati University which was held on 23 rd April, 2003 where Deputy Minister of the FRG Embassy, New Delhi delivered a lecture. 5. On behalf of the philosophy department I organized a seminar on George Grant and M K Gandhi in a joint effort with the political science department of Deshbandhu College, DU on 23rd September 2003 in the college premise. 6. On behalf of the Indian division of the Schopenhauer society and the department of philosophy, Deshbandhu College, I organized a three day International seminar on Schopenhauer and Indian Philosophy: A Dialogue between India and Germany in Collaboration with the Center for Studies in Civilizations and German Embassy, sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) and CSC which was held in February (22-24) 2005 in IIC, Delhi. It was also bilaterally organized by IDSS, India and Schopenahuer Research center, University of Mainz, Germany.

On behalf of the department of philosophy, Deshbandhu College, I am organizing a one day seminar on George Grant and M K Gandhi s nationalisms in Collaboration with the Center for Canadian, US and Latin American studies, JNU and IACS which will be held on 15 th Feb 2006. 8. On behalf of the Indian Schopenhauer society I myself along with Prof Yasuo Kamata for the Japan Schopenhauer society -jointly organized a one day meeting of the International Schopenhauer society during the world congress for the Schopenhauer Gesellschaft Germany in the XXII nd World Congress of Philosophy (during 30 th July- 5 th August 2008) in the Seoul National University, Korea. This meeting included a poster session, a Round table and a paper presentation session. 9. On behalf of the Indian division of the Schopenhauer society and the department of philosophy, Deshbandhu College, I organized a two day International conference on Understanding Schopenhauer through the Prism of Indian Culture: Philosophy, Religion and Sanskrit Literature in Collaboration with the Special Center for Sanskrit Studies, JNU sponsored by Schopenhauer Gesellschaft, JNU, MMB and Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) which was held in March (4-5) 2010 at JNU, New Delhi. It was also bilaterally organized by IDSS, India and Schopenhauer Research center, University of Mainz, Germany. Award of Scholarship: a). Bharat Jyoti Award by IIFS in 2015. The award is presented in honour of extra-ordinary contribution and meritorious performance to Eminent Politicians, Social Workers, Educationists, Industrialists, and Sports Persons, for their contribution towards the society in their field of endeavours. b). ) Best citizens of India Award in 2015 - She is awarded with the Best citizens of India Award by The International Publishing House (2015) in recognition to her exceptional caliber and outstanding performance in her chosen area of activity. Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG= German Research Foundation) She was awarded the prestigious DFG research fellowship for 3 months to pursue her post doctoral research on Sankara and Schopenhauer: A comparative study in the Schopenhauer Research Center, University of Mainz, Germany which commenced from June 2006 to 10th October 2006. Prof Matthias Kossler, Director of the Schopenhauer Research Center, University of Mainz, was her academic supervisor for the project. d). Faculty Research Fellowship by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) to visit Canada for 5 weeks from18th May to 22nd June 2003. She visited the University of St. Mary s, Halifax for the summer institute s course of SICI on Canadian Studies from 20th to 23rd May and then from 23rd May to 22nd June she visited the University of Guelph, Ontario. She had worked with Prof. William Christian on her project "George Grant and

13. Research Interest /Project: 1. Schopenhauer and Sankara: A Comparative Study. I am working on this project with Prof Matthias Kossler, Germany since I was awarded a post doctoral fellowship by DFG (German research foundations) to work on the project at the Schopenhauer research center in 2006 for 3 months. 2. George Grant and M K Gandhi on Technology and Modernism: A Comparative study : with a Faculty Research fellowship from SICI I have been working on this project since May-June 2003 for which I visited university of Guelph and worked under the supervision of Prof William Christian. The main part is published as a book Gandhi and Grant: Their Philosophical Affinities (edited by me), from Academic Excellence, New Delhi. 2010 3. Schopenhauer and Michael Krausz on objects of interpretation - this is complete and a research paper on this work is already published in the International Journal of Philosophy in the contemporary world, USA, in 2005. 14. a). I was one of the referees to review a manuscript of a book on Schopenhauer for publication from the University of Toronto Press, Canada in 2005. 15.
