MINUTES The ministers, deacons and messengers from the several Churches of the Diciples of Christ, compos ing Social Band Association called General Free Will Baptist, assembled with New Covenant Church, Lawrence County, Ark, commencing Friday night, Sept 13, k D 1912 The introductory sermon was preached by Elders G W Million and W T Shoffit from 2 Peter 3-18 After which adjourned till 8:30 oclock Saturday morning SATURDAY MORNING Met at 8:30 Called together by Assistant Moderator M P Johnson 1 The letters from the several churches were called for, read and received and the right hand of fellowship was taken and the delegetes names en- rolled 2 Proceeded to elect a Moderator and ClerK which resulted in Elder MP Johnson Moderator and W T Shoffit asistant and C P Fender Clerk and J Gates assistant ~ 3 The Moderator appointed the several committees on Arrangement of Business-Zack Minton, j_ R 1-lolt, J R Hancock, Perry Kincade and A J Gemlen On - Finance-H J Walker, J C Carter and Walter Taylor On Divine Service-F E Rosselott; W G Hawkins and Ben Duff On Obituary A J Leroux, C C Crosson and J F Gates 4 On motion the Moderator appointed a Committee Lecture-G W Million, N S Carroll, John L Ford and W G Hawkins

2 While waiting on the ~rrangement of Busi- ness Bro Jack Cole gave a grand lecture on Sabbath Schools 5 Called for Report on Arrangement of Business Called for read and tabled for the present, en motion that we adjourn till 2:30 Saturday The stand was filled 11 oclock by Rev W T Shoffit from Psalms 37-37 Saturday afternoon at 3 oclock Singing and Prayer by Bro H J Walker 6 Resolved, That we discontinue our 5th Sunday meeting 7 On motion and second that we take up the item that was tabled, which was on Sabbath Scl;wols 8 On motion that we adopt the resolutio Ll as is laid down in our minutes 9 On motion that we sustain the resolution temperance 10 On motion and second that the moderator appoint a community of three to devise a plan to finance the churches for to pay the preacher and to help the needy of the Church, to-wit:- Zack Minton, W T Shoffit, J R Holt The committee on Church Finance appointed in each church and allowed them to devife their own plans for raising money in each church to-wit: Pleasant Hill Church, Bro Stratton; Warm Springs Church, J R Holt; New Hope, J R Hancock; Sugar Tree Grove, Aloy Hopper; Stoney Point, Jim Bly; Old Jackson, Frank Brooks; Union Ridge, G W Agin;

3 Eureka, W P Brooks; Grand View, C c: Crossen; New Covenant, C P Fender; Mt Grove, H J Walk-, er; Reform Church, Ben Stuart 11 On motion that we recommend to the church for reading Literature, the Messenger Paper and the Free Will Baptist Paper 12 On motion and second that we adjourn till Monday morning, 8:30 Prayer by Brother Jesse Niswonger The stand was filled Saturday night by Eld J H Welker and J A Leroux; from St John 3-16 Sunday, 11 oclock, Bro G W Million preached on the Mode and De<~ign of Baptism At the close of the services, Eld M P Johnson attended to the ordinance ofbaptism and in the evening W T Sharp preached on the Ordinancfl of the Church, from Matthew 7-24, after which the Brothers and Sisters partook of the Lords Supper and Washed feet Monday morning services met 9 oclock Pray er by Brother Zack Minton, the body was called to order by the Moderator; 13 Called for thp report of the Committee On Finance the Committee turned over to the The report was received and the Com- Clerk $1738 mittee discharged While waiting for the Committee on business, Brother W T Shoffit gave a lecture on Temperance 14 Called again for the Report of the Committee, on arrangement Report as follows: First, on motion that we add to our Decorum in our Minutes to read as follows: No Minister, Deacoh or Messenger shall ablent himself from the body without leaf of the Association

4 Second, on motion that each annual session of the Association begin at 10 oclock on Saturday before the third Sunday in September Third, that each church be requested to consider the establishing of a campground at some center point in the bounds of the association each annual setting of the said Body and report at the next Association 15 Then we took up the report of the Ministers Their report was received 16 On motion and second Elder G, W Million be granted a letter of Recommendation 17 On motion that reform church was received by Petitionary by Elder W T Sharp 18 One corresponding letter and Delegates was received from fair dealing association of General Baptist and Bro J A Leroux as Delegate 19 Call for the report on Obituary see report 20 the Committee on the arrangement of business was discharged 21 On motion that we have 400 minutes printed this year and hat the Clerk superintend the printing and distribution It was agreed that the Association be held with Sugartree Grove church commencing on Saturday at 10 oclock before the 3rd Sunday in September 1913 and th11t Elder W T Sharp preach next introductor and J W Thmp assist him The st<md was fille:l at l1 oclock by Elder JA Lero11x from Romans 5-1 and W T Sharp assisted him

5 On motion that -lye tender our heartfelt thanks to the friends and Brethren for their kind treatment during our stay with them On motion +hat we adjourn until the time and place of our next Association M P JoHNSON, Moderator W T SHOFFIT, Assistant C P Fender; Clerk J F Gates, Assistant RESOLUTIONS We, the Committee on Sabbath Schools, on seeing the need of the maintenance of the same, do urge upon the brethren and sisters of this body to do all they can for the establishment and maintenance of the Sabbarh Schools in all the congregations, and that the ministers be especially urged to labor for f?ame and aid the churches in securing goo literature We, the Committee on Temperance, recognizing the fact that the manufacture, sale and use of in- toxicating liquors as a beverage is the greatest evil of the age, and!mowing it to be contrary to the teaching of the Bible to handlethe same as a beverage; th<>refore, be it Resolved, That we use our influence as Christians and patriots in the cause, that we, as individuals, may deem the most successful in destroying this great evil We also recommend that our churches bnng to trial any of their members found engaged in the manufacture, importation, sale or use of intoxicants as a beverage, or knowingly be found voting directly or indirectly for same REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON OBITUARIES We, your Committee on 0->ituary, find that our kind and gracious Heavenly Father has seen fit in His divive wisdom to remove by death from our midst four of our membership located as follows:
