Epiphany is the remembrance of a star that guided people to an even greater Light! Easter a movable feast is the season of the light of the Risen Christ. Thus the chant announcing Easter s date would be as follows: My brothers and sisters, Today on the Solemnity of His Epiphany, the glory of the Lord has shone forth upon us, And it shall ever be manifest among His people, until the day of His glorious return. Within the measure ofnature s times and seasons, let us observe with celebration the mysteries of faith. Let us call to mind: The great and most holy Easter Triduum ofchrist: His paschal supper, His passion and crucifixion, His descent among the dead, and His glorious rising, celebrated from the night of Holy Thursday the 13th ofapril through the hours of Good Friday the 14th ofapril, in silence on Holy Saturday the 15th ofapril blooming into the joy of Easter Sunday the 16th day ofapril. Each Sunday will be as another Easter Day, when the Holy Church presents anew the great and saving deeds whereby Jesus has conquered over sin and death. Don't forget to put your e mail address on your envelope. You only need to do this once. Ifyou have already submitted your email address, you do not need to do it again. The St. Florian Self Defense Program Come join "The St. Florian Self-Defense Program." All ages may sign up, children and adults. For more information, please call (708) 476-8615.

Even though it's still warm out, winter is coming and we have to start thinking about a new boiler. The Archdiocese credits us every month with 60% of your CURRENT payments. Some people are DRAMATICALLY delinquent in their payments which slows down our goal. We really can't move forward until we receive most of the funds for the boiler. If you have any questions about your payments, please call the Archdiocese at 312-534-8500. January 14 From 4:00pm to 7:00pm St. Columba Social Center 13323 S. Greenbay Avenue (Plenty ofparking available) Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor The Baptism of the Lord Acts ofthe Apostles 10:34-38 Something happened at the baptism of Jesus. John had been using baptism as a way of ushering people into a new way of life. They turned down a new path on life s journey and placed themselves com- pletely at the service of God. When Jesus accepted baptism by John, his public ministry began. He worked wonders. He preached about the reign of God. He acquired disci- ples. He foretold his death and resurrection. He prayed. He lived for God alone when the evangelists searched out how this ministry began, they all turned back to the same moment: the baptism of John. In Acts of the Apostles, Peter went to the house of Cornelius the Gentile, because Cornelius wanted to know more about Jesus. Peter began teaching by summarizing the life ofjesus. He did it the same way the evangelists did: God proclaimed peace, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, where God anointed Jesus ofnazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. Many of us can point to a moment when something happened in our lives, too. Perhaps there was one day when we started looking at the world a lot differently. We saw more clearly who we were and what God wanted us to be. We pledged to be faithful to the God who loves us, and ever since, we have striven to live out our commitment. No one did it as perfectly as Jesus, but we are all called by God for some purpose. Text by Paul Turner 2004 Liturgy Training Publications If you like our pancake breakfast, then you'll love our spaghetti dinner. The dinner will include: Salad, Bread & Butter, Dessert, Coffee, Milk and "All You Care To Eat Spaghetti & Meatballs with Meat Sauce."
