The focus of the study will be based on Jesus prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. (Luke 22:42) Jesus begged for relief from the trial he faced, while utterly complying with what he knew the Father s will to be. Honesty and abandon-in the same breath. We will use this model as we study prayer and how such prayer can bring us closer to God. The book is available via Amazon or Discovery House for $12-15. Congregations for Children: The Congregations for Children committee of SUMC, is once again collecting summer reading books for Kindergarten through 5th grade students to choose and keep. If you would like to donate new or gently used children's books or magazines for Silverdale Elementary, you are invited to drop those off in one of the white baskets located by the church office, the sanctuary narthex, or building #3 narthex. C4C volunteers will collect those from March 10 - May 15! We will deliver them to the school and set up the event before Memorial Day. Any non-fiction or children's fiction, suitable for ages 5-12, is welcome. Thanks for your past and present support of this worthwhile literacy project! Wondering just how or why SUMC partners with Silverdale, a public Onslow County elementary?! Three Silverdale staff members will be presenting sessions at the March 30 WOW morning event in building #3 at church! You are welcome to attend sessions led by Silverdale principal, Dr. Crystal Howard with assistant principal, Ms. Kelly Coward, and/or by the Onslow Literacy Teacher of the Year, a Silverdale 3rd grade teacher, Ms. April Bryant. They are very excited to volunteer for this and to connect with our congregation. So, bring your smiles, your interest, and your questions and join in welcoming them and other presenters at this event.
