Today s Daily Bread How Do You Stand Out? When God first gave me this topic this afternoon it was just a simple Stand Out, as I remained in meditation he gave me countenance. I knew we had talked a little about our countenance the other day but you know how it works out when you argue with Father, you are not going to win. I believe that our countenance means a lot more to God than we take the time to study and understand. I also believe this continued look at it is proof of that so let s take another look at His Word to see what He wants us to see. Psalms 43:5 (KJV) Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Job 29:24 (KJV) If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down. Ecclesiastes 8:1 KJV) Who is like the wise man and who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man's wisdom illumines him and causes his stern face to beam. Isaiah 3:9 (KJV) The expression of their faces bears witness against them, And they display their sin like Sodom; They do not even conceal it Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves I would like to talk a bit about our countenance (or appearance) as others view us. We know although we as Christians have no right to judge others especially another Christian. We also know there are many (yes, including us when weak) that do so and worst of other Christians. As a biker with a long beard, most always a Harley T-shirt, and yes, tattoos and earrings there are many times my outward appearance might be intimidating to others. As soon as they see my inner countenance with the smile and Godly speak and actions everything changes in a heartbeat. I end up talking and laughing with more strangers than just about anyone in the store. I have a ball with them especially the elderly folks there are such fun. What about you, do you carry the countenance to easily meet and chat with others? You see this is the way doors are opened to talk to folks about our Jesus. Drop the seed if nothing more, the let others water and harvest the seed via God s Will. Do you often have others (usually another Christian) come right out and ask you are you a Christian? What a wonderful feeling when others pick up on our inner countenance. Have you been able to do the same do to someone else? I have and it just so exciting to just know in your spirit that another walks God s walk with you. I would know the answer before I even asked but just had to ask. Luke 9:29 (KJV) And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. Your countenance says a lot about your walk with Christ. What does yours show others? How Do You Stand Out? Giving God All The Glory Pastor Ken 2

A Farmers Words of Wisdom Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong. Keep skunks and bankers at a distance. Life is simpler when you plow around the stump. A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor. Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled. Meanness don't just happen overnight. Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads. Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you. It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge. You cannot unsay a cruel word. Every path has a few puddles. When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. The best sermons are lived, not preached. Most of the stuff people worry about, ain't never gonna happen anyway. Don't judge folks by their relatives. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Live a good and honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none. Time'n has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'. 4
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'. Always drink upstream from the herd. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in. If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God. The Historical Influence on America and on the world of the Biblical story of the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37; America s 1 st hospital, the Penn. Hospital, was founded in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin to care for the sick, poor & insane who were wandering the streets of Philadelphia. The logo Franklin used for the hospital which is still used till this day was a picture of the Good Samaritan and from Luke 10:35 states; Take care of him and I will repay thee. The teaching of the Good Samaritan is deep throughout American culture. Early student textbooks such as the McGuffey Readers and the New England Primer promoted this as well as Good Samaritan laws still on the books today to encourage citizens good faith rescue efforts. This bible lesson shaped America s benevolent nature. That is why when disaster strikes around the world Americans rush into help. Richard Henry Lee, signer of the Declaration of Independence said, Christian philosophy, in its tenderness for human infirmities, strongly instills principles of benevolence. John Adams said, Christian benevolence makes it our indispensable duty to lay ourselves out to serve our fellow creatures to the utmost of our power. The Father of American Jurisprudence, James Kent, said, Christianity taught the duty of benevolence to strangers. John Quincy Adams said, The doctrines promulgated by Jesus and His apostles include lessons of peace, benevolence, meekness, brotherly love and charity. Daniel Webster said, Let the religious element in man s nature be neglected and he becomes the creature of selfish passion. The cultivation of religious sentiment incites to general benevolence and the practical acknowledgment of the brotherhood of man. Rev. Richard Allen, a black minister, soldier during the revolution and founder of the A.M.E. denomination said about Luke 6:35, and the absolute necessity of practicing this duty is the very same with that of being Christian. And Rev. Frederick Douglass, Civil Rights Leader said, I love the religion of our blessed Savior. I love that religion that comes from above. I love that religion that sends its followers to bind up the wounds of him that has fallen among thieves. I love that religion that makes it the duty of its disciples to visit the fatherless and the widow in their affliction. I love that religion that is based upon the glorious principle of love to God and love to man, which makes its followers do unto others as they themselves would be done by. America is unique in this. Secular nations or those of non-biblical faith rarely are (compared to us) proactive in humanitarian relief. Because of Christian civil leaders our government passed certain laws to promote and protect personal charity. As the Supreme Court affirmed; The principles of the law of charities prevail in all civilized countries pervaded by the spirit of Christianity. To sum up; The needy in all countries of the world have been blessed through the bounty and benevolence of Christians. Who, in turn, learned to pass on blessings by the Word of God Most of these findings come from The Founder s Bible. Which Historian David Barton put together with the NASB translation interspaced with pages of historical evidences of how Judeo/Christian Bible influenced the building of America. Always looking up, gt 8
