Amen. Trusting God s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and one another. (silence for reflection and self-examination) Eternal God our creator; In you we live and move and have our being. Look upon us, your children, the work of your hands. Prayer of the Day Let us pray. O Lord Christ, good shepherd of the sheep, you seek the lost and guide us into your fold. Feed us, and we shall be satisfied, heal us, and we shall be whole. Make us one with you, for you live and reign with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. WORD God speaks to us in scripture reading, preaching, and song First Reading Acts 4:5-12 Salvation in Christ alone A reading from Acts. 5 The next day their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem, 6 with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, [a] and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. 7 When they had made the prisoners [b] stand in their midst, they inquired, By what power or by what name did you do this? 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders, 9 if we are questioned today because of a good deed done to someone who was sick and are asked how this man has been healed, 10 let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, [c] whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead. 11 This Jesus [d] is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders; it has become the cornerstone. [e] 12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved. Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God. 6

Psalm 23 ELW 708 Cantor: Women: Men: Worship Team: 7

Cantor: Second Reading 1 John 3:16-24 Commandments: Belief and Love A reading from 1 John. 16 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. 17 How does God s love abide in anyone who has the world s goods and sees a brother or sister [a] in need and yet refuses help? 18 Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. 19 And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before him 20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; 22 and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24 All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us. Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God. 8

Gospel Acclamation Gospel John 10:10-18 The holy gospel according to John. Glory to you, O Lord. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 18 No one takes [a] it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon: Bishop Pedro Suarez 9

Hymn of the Day In Christ Alone/The Solid Rock Verse 1 In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light my strength my song This Cornerstone this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love what depths of peace When fears are stilled when strivings cease My Comforter my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand Verse 2 In Christ alone who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid, here in the love of Christ I live Verse 3 There in the ground His body lay, light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day, up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ Bridge On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. Verse 4 No guilt in life no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I'll stand CCLI Song # 3350395 Keith Getty Stuart Townend This arrangement by Cottrell, Getty and Townend, arr. Apostles Creed Together, let us profess our faith in the words of the Apostle s Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Commissioning of the Luther Springs Camp Staff Prayers of Intercession Shepherd of life, our hope is in you. Peace The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you. Let us share Christ s peace with one another. 11

MEAL God feeds us with the presence of Jesus Christ Offering & Setting the Table Today s offering is collected for the Florida-Bahamas Synod Global Mission. Musical offering: Shepherd, by Crowder/Bentley/Fieldes/Millard iii Offering Prayer Let us pray: Merciful God, as grains of wheat scattered upon the hills were gathered together to become one bread, so let your church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, for yours is the glory through Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen. Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn: 12

You are indeed holy, almighty and merciful God For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Remembering, therefore, his salutary command Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. Christ invites you to a place of honor at this banquet. Welcome to the feast. A communion station with bread and wine is located at each section. The first cup is for drinking and the second cup is for intinction. The station with gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic wine is at the baptismal font. Communion 13

Prayer after Communion Let us pray. O God, the host at every meal, at this table you spread out a feast for all peoples, the bread of life and the cup of salvation. Send us from this banquet to invite others into these good things, to let your peace be manifest through each of us; and to care for the least of our sisters and brothers; through Jesus Christ, our Sovereign and our Savior. Amen. SENDING God blesses us and sends us in mission to the world Installation of Council members A reading from Romans The bishop addresses those being installed. Will you assume the office to which you have been elected Response: I will, and I ask God to help me. The bishop addresses the assembly. People of God, will you support and pray for name/s in this work? Response: We will, and we ask God to help us. The bishop addresses those being installed. The office of synod council member/committee member is committed to you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let us pray... The bishop addresses the newly installed. The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do God's will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in God's sight; through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. 15

Closing of an Assembly Jesus said, you will be my witnesses To the ends of the earth. I chose you and appointed you To bear fruit that will last. Remember, I am with you always, To the end of time. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. Faithful and Steadfast God of new beginnings, We have gathered together over these past days as your people, having been called from various parts of this Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. During our time here in this place, we celebrated your promise of grace and mercy poured out in Word and Sacrament, received the guidance of your Holy Spirit in our discernment of how we will work together to bring about your kingdom here on earth, and gave thanks for those who served our Synod and those who are called to serve in a new way. Pour out your blessing upon us that we have the strength and courage to continue this work to which we are all called as one body, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen I declare this assembly closed In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Blessing Beloved in the Lord, So Jesus says to us again, Peace be with you. Just as the Father has sent me I also send you. Do Not be afraid I am with you! The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord s face shine upon you with grace and mercy. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace. Amen. 16

Even if you only have a few extra instruments, the piano part and string reduction can be used to fill out the entire ensemble and produce an exciting, full sound. ii Purchase one or two copies of the ELW Guitar Edition so your guitar players can participate on any of the Sunday hymns. Some hymns work better than others for the guitar, though! The guitar chords for some of the ELW liturgies are notated in the regular accompaniment edition. iii If you are lacking a banjo player for a song like this, you may be able to find a similar voice on your synthesizer or in your organ s MIDI bank so you can use a keyboard to play the part. Mandolin can also be a reasonable substitute for banjo if you have a good player. iv Don t be shy about using the organ with your worship band. Sometimes the Hammond B3 voice or the addition of a tremolo stop is fun on the gospel hymns also! 18
