ORG What s Happening at BPC May 23, 2014 Dinner with Friends - June 1 Over the past few months, we have had several gatherings of the Dinner With Friends group, Bedford Presbyterian folks who are 25-45 ish and have had whole lot of fun eating dinner and getting to know each other. These are relaxed gatherings with a covered dish supper, conversation, and a game or two. Our next Dinner With Friends will be on Sunday, June 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mark and Michele Bartram, 21 Butterfield Lane, Bedford. Since it is the start of summer, we are inviting you to bring your favorite summertime dish with enough to share. Childcare will not be available this time around since we ll be at someone s home, but there is space in the Bartram s basement for older children who can watch after themselves for a little while. We will be working on outdoor repairs of church.vif you have the time and are interested see Fran Bader or email her at dfrannie530@gmail.com Interested in Mission Work at BPC? D o you have a passion for helping others? Do you have a talent for organizing events? Do you have ideas for new ways the church can get involved in Mission? Do you just want to help out on one-- off events? If you said yes to even one of these questions, then we need you! There are many ways to get involved with Mission at Bedford Presbyterian Church. The Mission Team meets monthly on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the basement classrooms under the Fellowship Hall. During meetings we discuss ideas of activities we want to pursue, get updates on what is going on with active projects and plan for future mission activities. Don t like committee meetings? No problem! Take a lead role on one event. We will strive to create a group to help you plan and execute a mission activity. Currently we are looking for leads for: Church Wide Bar-- b-- q that is scheduled for May 18 (in conjunction with Fellowship) Walk Against Hunger 5k for New Horizons Fundraiser on October 5 to support the Faders, mission doctors in Africa that the church has committed to support New area: Family Mission Opportunities we are looking for someone to find and organize volunteer opportunities that include children and/or are for families Evergreen wreaths sale during Christmas holiday season Don t want to plan an event but you are creative and good at writing? We are also looking for a communication lead that will help us get the word out about all of the amazing opportunities for Mission that are available for our church members during the year. Harold G. Williams Jr. Scholarship to be Awarded The Deacons will be awarding the Harold G. Williams Jr. Scholarship to members of our congregation who are presently, or will be in the fall, full time students enrolled in a college, trade school or graduate program. Special consideration may be given to a student in seminary or a student involved in mission work.0 This year two recipients will be awarded $500 each on Graduation Sunday, June 8, 2014 during the 10:00 a.m. service. An application is available on the church website, http://bedfordpresbyterian.org/ or can be emailed upon request (kingbelind@aol.com). Applications are due by Sunday June 1, 2014. Sunday Flowers Members of the congregation are invited to place flowers on the communion table. The cost is $45 per bouquet that can be taken home or given to a member of the congregation that is ill -or the bouquet can be brought in by the person sponsoring that Sunday. Vacation Church School (VCS) for the Entire Family! YES - you read that right - from 6 to 8 pm! Join us for a bring your own picnic at 5:30 p.m. and stay to explore Moses world together. $15 per person, $40 for families of 4 or more! In Vacation Church School become part of the journey as Moses and the Israelites watch God guide and provide! You ll travel back into Bible times together. We are moving to an evening format this year so that the whole family can journey together! Parents, children, grandparents, friends all are welcome! Each day, you can become part of history as they see, hear, touch, and even taste what it was like to live in the Bible-times wilderness! You ll explore the Israelite Artisan Camp tents, have a visit from Moses, take part in games, and dance to lively Bible songs as you discover more about Moses adventures. These experiences make God s Word come alive with new meaning for all who participate!

Mission Garden Time Kick-off Father's Day Weekend with a Family Picnic at the Church Garden Site! Bring your blanket and favorite picnic foods and join us on Friday the 13th starting at 4:30 p.m. The entertainment will be " playing in the dirt "(planting the church garden). Bring the kids, young and old and join the fun in the dirt or just chat and visit. We have the dirt, veggie plants and just need some people to dig wholes and add their laughter to feed those who have little chance to have fresh veggies. Youth participating will be given community service hours. If you wish to bring something to plant We need marigolds to edge the garden for insect control. Hope to see you there.
