Beautiful Gifts for all occasions! You can place a personal or business message in the Dajar. It will be repeated in all the issues of the Dajar for as long as you wish. Our Dajar is mailed monthly to over 900 addresses. A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year grandson. The old man s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. We must do something about Grandfather, said the son. I ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor. So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed their dinners together. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather s direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, What are you making? Just as sweetly, the boy responded, Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when you get old. The four year old smiled and went back to work. The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took Grandfather s hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. Author Unknown 3767 N. - 2 - By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Abp. Hovnan Derderian was awarded the First Degree Medal for Services to the Motherland. Congratulations Srpazan Hayr! At the Assembly, the following six new members were elected to the Parish Council: Isabel Bishop, Zaven Devejian, Tamar Gostanian, Hagop Iskenyan, Anton Kismetian, and Jeff Markarian. Many thanks to outgoing council members Dn. Steve Adams, Dn. Dr. Varouj Altebarmakian, Isabel Chilpigian, Mark Der Matoian, Robert Hancer, and Ben Krikorian. Special thanks to Ben for his leadership of the parish over the past four years as much was accomplished in improving our parish facilities, membership, and finances; in addition to his first task when joining the council in 2014 of overseeing the pastoral search committee and the ultimate appointment of Fr. Yessai Bedros. The Parish Council has elected the following officers for the coming year: Chairman: Jeff Markarian Vice-Chairman: Darlene Chardukian Treasurer: Zar Der Mugrdechian Asst. Treasurer: Zaven Devejian Recording Secretary: Anton Kismetian Corresponding Secretary: Janet Sabbatini At Large: Isabel Bishop Tamar Gostanian Hagop Iskenyan Ovanes Kutnerian Sergio La Porta As discussed at the Parish Assembly, the renovation of the bathrooms in the Haig Berberian Hall is in the planning phase. Additional information on the project will be provided as it progresses. We are currently in the Lenten Season and hope to see you at our various activities and services; including Wednesday Lenten services, the Palm Sunday Champagne Brunch, hosted by the Ladies Society, on March 25, and culminating with Easter Sunday, on April 1. Watch for the schedule of Holy Week events arriving in your mailbox soon. Planning is underway for the Annual Armenian Festival to be held on Friday, May 11. Mark your calendars, as this is always a great event you won t want to miss!

Men s Forum Although it was decided by the Men s Forum members in January not to schedule a February dinnermeeting, their dedicated semi-retired cooking committee of Bob Der Matoian, Jerry Mootafian, and Russell Adams were still on hand to help prepare the delicious lulu kebab luncheon prior to the Parish Assembly on Sunday, February 11. Since this would have been their normally hosted Fellowship Sunday, the Men s Forum did manage to provide table grapes for each plate, thanks to the welcomed last-minute suggestion of Clarice Krikorian. Men s Forum will next convene on Wednesday, March 21. Bob Der Matoian and his crew (Jerry and - 3 - Russell) are planning a special Lenten meal featuring salmon steaks with all the trimmings. Men s Forum Vice-Chairman, Dr. Wayne Hotzakorgian, a longtime practicing endodontist, has offered to provide a presentation on endodontics and dental health. An announcement flyer will be forthcoming. Members are also reminded to please pay their $15 annual dues if they have not already done so. In April, the Men s Forum are anticipating a joint dinner-program with the Ladies Society. The date and details are yet to be confirmed but will be announced as soon as plans are finalized. Best wishes are extended to all St. Paul parishioners for a very special Holy Week and Happy Easter. Photos taken during luncheon preparation prior to Feb. 11 th Parish Assembly. Ladies Society Mark your calendars for the next Ladies Society dinner and general meeting which will be on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the Haig Berberian Hall, immediately following the weekly Lenten service at St. Paul. It was a fun evening full of food, games, singing, dancing, a devotional from Der Hayr and much more. Some members of the Fowler Junior ACYO group joined the lock-in too, and great memories were made! A short membership meeting was held and upcoming events were discussed with plans to collaborate with fellow Junior ACYO groups in the future. The St. Paul Junior ACYO would like to thank all parent chaperones who helped make the lock-in a success. In the month of March, the Juniors will be selling delicious simit, and on Easter Sunday, the adorable Easter bunny will be hopping by to take photos with all the church families. If you have any questions or would like to join Junior ACYO, please contact Thalia Colarian @ acyojuniors@gmail.com or (559) 385-1109. : Fresno Acyo : st.paul_acyo Senior ACYO The second Annual Poon Paregentan Dinner and Dance was a great success. There were nearly 140 attendees and everyone had a great time as they enjoyed dancing, delicious food and wonderful raffle prizes. Thanks to DJ Diko Chekian, for providing the music and hologram projections on the wall. Much appreciation to the parish and community members, families and friends for their continuous support. Thanks, also, to the ACYO members for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success. During March 2-4, several ACYO members will be attending Reclaim 2018: Exploring and Celebrating the Creative Spirit, in Burbank, California, at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral. There will be three days filled with various motivational speakers, Bible studies, nature hikes, meditation, prayer services, informational booths and more. The next Senior ACYO meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., at St. Paul, in classroom number 4. After the meeting, the Seniors will be assembling Easter baskets to be sold on March 18, during their scheduled Fellowship and, again on March 25, during the Palm Sunday Brunch. The Easter baskets will be filled with wonderful goodies and are great gift ideas for family gatherings and socials. Be sure to purchase your baskets on either of the above-mentioned Sundays. On the occasion of International Women s Day (March 8) the Seniors will be passing out pink carnations to all the girls and women on Sunday, March 11, after church services as they wish all girls and women good health, love and happiness. The Senior ACYO is planning to collaborate with the Junior ACYO in volunteering their time to help clean the interior of the church sanctuary on Saturday, March 24. If anyone is interested in becoming a member of Senior ACYO or has any questions regarding upcoming events, please send an e-mail to fresnoacyo@gmail.com or contact chairwoman, Vartush Mesropyan at 559-916-0074.
