WELCOMING After two years of waiting and preparations, today the Sixth Đại Hội Liên Hữu is finally opened solemnly at Federation University in Ballarat, Victoria. We thank our Lord, who has gathered His followers from all states of Australia and other countries to attend this Conference. In the joyful atmosphere of this great occasion, I, on behalf of the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Evangelical Church of Australia (VECA) and the Conference Organizing Committee of the Melbourne Chapter would like to offer you our warmest greetings of your presence in the love of Jesus Christ. Thank be to our Lord Jesus Christ, for all His abundant blessings over the past 37 years. Praise be to God, the Vietnamese Evangelical Church of Australia (VECA) has grown from a few branches in some states, now has 12 churches and one Evangelical Centre. The focus of the VECA is on proclaiming the Gospel, spreading the message and teachings of Jesus Christ, nourishing the spiritual life of the faithfuls, planting new places of worship nationally to expand the Kingdom of God. In line with the preaching of God s Word locally, VECA has been actively promoting the evangelical mission and helping to train the servants of God outside of Australia in fulfilling the Great Commission. The preaching program for our Vietnamese community in Thailand still continues. Meanwhile, through your generosity - faithful Christians, VECA has been able to expand the Tabitha social program in Vietnam during the last 37 years to provide both financial and spiritual support to local orphans, to train people, to print and distribute the Scriptures, and to help the servants of God facing hardships and illnesses. Just mentioning a few of its wide ranging activities. VECA now has an aged care facility with 12 apartments in Ham Long, Ben Tre, Vietnam. In addition, it had contributed to building and supporting the Dinh Cong Human Resource Training Centre in Hanoi, consisting of 5 levels, 80 square metres each. That place has helped to train hundreds of pastors who have been caring for the hundreds of thousands of Christians in the North for many years. Over the last few years, VECA has also been actively supporting the Centre for Protestant Evangelism in Cambodia. 3

Our sincere hope and holy aspiration is that after the Conference many attendees especially the youth will answer the Lord s call. They will be well-equipped with Jesus Christ s message and teachings to go out to find the lost Vietnamese souls in Australia to help them to receive the Gospel and ultimately accept God as their Saviour. As a gesture of our deep appreciation, we will offer our prayers of intercession to the Australian people and the country for their generiosity of having embraced us as well. We invite and encourage everyone to actively participate in all conference programs and activities, and to spend time praying in early morning prayers sessions. Let us pray together for the health of graceful speakers, who share the Word of God and their rich experiences so that we can learn. We also pray to the Amighty God to give His blessings to make the 2018 Đa i Hội Liên Hữu a successful event. May the Holy Spirit breathe new winds into the Conference to allow everyone to feel the presence of the Lord and receive His blessings! May the Lord grant grace and strengths to all of you and your family! Once again, on behalf of VECA thank you for your presence and attention. In Christ, Reverend Dr Ngô Minh Quang President Vietnamese Evangelical Church in Australia (VECA) 4

WELCOME Brothers and sisters in Christ, Welcome to the Sixth Đa i Hội Liên Hữu Tin Lành Viê t Nam Úc Châu! On behalf of the Vietnamese Baptist Association of Australia, I would like to extend our warmest greetings to you all in the love of Jesus Christ. May His grace, peace, and mercy pour abundantly upon each of us. Praise to our Lord, for His blessings given to the previous five Đa i Hội Liên Hữu as recorded in Psalm 133:1, 3: "How good and pleasant it is when God s people live together in unity! For there the Lord bestows His blessings, even life forevermore" Following the spirit of unity and by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the 2018 Đa i Hội Liên Hữu has been organized by the VECA - Melbourne Church. The theme of "Carry Out The Great Commission" based on Jesus Christ s last teaching from Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Đa i Hội Liên Hữu Tin Lành is designed to bring together followers of God, their family and friends throughout Australia as well as other countries. It is a unique opportunity for all Christians to praise and worship our Lord, study God s Word, and to have fellowships in the name of Jesus Christ. This is also a great occasion for us, Vietnamese expatriates to seek spiritual nourishment and comfort, and revitalize our lives. Here, we will have the opportunity to stay together in one location, to sing together songs of love of Christ, to receive grace and to praise the greatness of our Lord. 5

At this Conference, we will witness all social classes, positions, denominational barriers, prejudices, disagreements to be razed so that we - God s children - may live and work together in harmony, truth and equality in the love and grace of Almighty God. Your presence in this Conference speaks loudly of the fellowship, the unity in the Eucharist, in one Baptism, and in the Holy Spirit. We all share one common goal to work towards, that is the future growth of the Christian church in Australia and elsewhere. Once again, on behalf of the Vietnamese Baptist Association in Australia I wish you all to have joyful, meaningful and blessed days at this great Đa i Hội Liên Hữu. In Christ, Pastor Nguyen Hung Vuong President Hiệp Hội Tin Lành Báp-Tít Việt Nam Úc Châu 6
