Once In Royal David s City Congregation please stand Verse one solo. Soloist: Jonty Gould Year 7 Once in Royal David s city, Stood a lowly cattle shed, Where a mother laid her Baby, In a manger for His bed: Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ, her little Child. ALL He came down to earth from heaven, Who is God and Lord of all, And His shelter was a stable, And His cradle was a stall: With the poor, and mean, and lowly, Lived on earth our Saviour holy. For He is our childhood's pattern; Day by day, like us, He grew; He was little, weak, and helpless, Tears and smiles, like us He knew; And He feeleth for our sadness, And He shareth in our gladness And our eyes at last shall see Him, Through His own redeeming love; For that Child so dear and gentle, Is our Lord in heaven above: And He leads His children on, To the place where He is gone.
Welcome and Bidding Prayer Father Mark Chadwick The Lord s Prayer (All) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Third and Fourth Lesson Isaiah ix & Isaiah xi: Christ s birth and Kingdom foretold Read by Edward Evans and Tom Gray (Year 8) O Little Town of Bethlehem Congregation please stand Verse 1 O little town of Bethlehem how still we see Thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by. Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light; The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. Verse 2 O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth, and praises sing to God the king and peace to men on earth. For Christ is born of Mary; and, gathered all above, while mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love. Verse 3 How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is given, So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Lord enters in. Verse 4 O Holy Child of Bethlehem descend to us, we pray; cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell; O come to us, abide with us, our Lord, Emmanuel.
