Advent is a time where we look forward to the coming of Christ. Christmas is the day when we acknowledge that the Son of God has come into the world as a child, incarnate in humanity. The child, Christ, is fully human and fully divine and it s an amazing realization, to know that God isn t some far away God but is God here, now, and with us. Emmanuel, God is with us. As we begin this Advent journey I ask that you set aside time to pray and read along with us in Luke s Gospel focusing on Luke chapters one and two. If we aren t careful, the Christmas story can become all too common in our minds and we begin to think we have heard it all before and can easily take the amazing story of God becoming human all too lightly. Christmas is profound and I pray that you would look on the text in the Bible and the season, itself, with new eyes while not getting caught up in the commercialization of the holiday. The presents, the children, the trees, and lights while good in themselves, can too easily become a distraction to the truly profound event that Christ came as a baby, the most helpless of all, and lived among us. This is the true gift. Join me in making Christmas truly about Christ this Advent season. Wait with me as we wait on the Lord, expect with me, with great expectations, and rejoice with me when Christ comes on Christmas and in our hearts afresh this season. We wait, but we wait in hope, with peace, joy, and of course love. For without love, what do we really have that matters? In Christ, Pastor Chris
