PASTOR S MESSAGE 3 Dear brothers and sisters: Today our Lord teaches us that actions speak louder than words. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, 'Yes, sir,' but did not go. We are warned about empty promises. To work in the vineyard of the Lord, which is His Church, means that we put our hands on the plow. Christ has a stern and strong warning to those people who put their hands on the plow and look back. He said in Luke 9:62: No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. What did Christ mean by this statement? Putting our hands on the plow means that we have decided that we are going to commit our lives to God. We believe that God will save us when we repent of our sins, get baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands. Jesus lived in an agricultural age where His audience is very well familiar with what Christ exactly means. For a plowman to be successful in His work, he must concentrate on the job he started. He knows that the only way is forward and not being distracted by the things left behind. In case the plowman starts to look back, his plow line would become crooked. If that happens, the field he is plowing will not yield a full harvest. Therefore, our work in the vineyard of the Lord should be one of responsibility. It should be an imitation of our Savior s work. Your will be done! (Mt 6,10). This was the content of the Savior's life. He came into the world to fulfill the Father's will, not only to atone for the sin of disobedience through His obedience (Rom 5,19), but also to lead people back to their destiny by the way of obedience. The created will is not destined to be free to exalt itself. It is called to come into unison with the divine will. The Son of Man not only promptly obeyed his heavenly Father, but also subjected himself to people who imposed the Father's will on him. The obedience enjoined by God releases the enslaved will from the bonds of creatures and leads it back to freedom. Thus, it is also the way to purity of heart. Have a blessed week! Fr. Catechists help them to ponder and understand that the Eucharist is Jesus sacrificial meal, a celebration of His death and Resurrection. He invites us to share in this most special meal. During the Eucharist, Jesus is present to us in the proclamation of His Word and in the Blessed Sacrament. After the Eucharist, He remains present in the form of the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. Children as early as 2 1/2 years old are able to begin naming and identify the articles of the Mass. by the time they are 6 years, they are able to identify them all. Copyright J. S.
