How Good is Your Gospel? The Teachings of Jesus On Faithfulness Divorce (Mat 19 NIV) 7 Why then, they asked, did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away? 8 Jesus replied, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.

This is not how it was at the beginning (Mt 19:8) Word for Word Translation He answered, Moshe allowed you to divorce your wives because your hearts are so hardened. But this is not how it was at the beginning. (Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)) Jesus replied, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. (NIV) Jesus replied, "Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. (NLT) Jesus said, "Moses provided for divorce as a concession to your hard heartedness, but it is not part of God's original plan. To Command and Commandment Then we set out from Horeb and went through all that great and terrifying wilderness that you saw, on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us. And we came to Kadeshbarnea. (Deu 1:19 ESV) And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us. http://interlinearbible.org/matthew/22.htm Entole [G:1785] is a combination of the word en [G:1722], meaning in or with, and telos [G:5056] meaning end or goal. Entole literally means with a goal and is very similar to our Hebraic understanding of the mitsvah as a direction. http://thelivingwords.ancient-hebrew.org If the Commandment is a pointer, what is it pointing to? Tetragrammaton Tetragrammaton (from Greek τετραγράµµατον, meaning "[a word] having four letters") refers to the Hebrew written form of YHWH (Hebrew: יהוה ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tetragrammaton (hayah) Was (hoveh) Is (yihyeh) Will be that Moses conceived the Deity as a Being Who has always existed, does exist, and always will exist and for this cause he calls Him by the name Jehovah which in Hebrew signifies these three phases of existence", (Tractatus theologico politicus II, 380 of prophets - English translation p. 288 the philosophy of spinoza, edited by J. From א ד נ י (Adonai) to Κυριος (Kyrios) YHWH, Adonai is the Hebrew for the LORD (Exodus 3:13-14; Psalm 110). Kyrios is the Greek for lord. This is how the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament, renders the divine names Yahweh and Adonai. In the New Testament, Jesus is the Kyrios (Matthew 22:34-46; Luke 1:43-45; 2:11; John 20:10-29). The Seven I am sayings of Jesus from the Gospel of John I am the bread of life... I am awesome. I am joyful. I am a failure. I am no good. I can t make it. I am good. I can do all things (Phi 4:13). Word Study on Aman

Word Study on Aman ('a man H539) is the root that underlies all אָמ ן the words translated faithful in the Old Testament. Under the heading of Believe : It means to support or confirm; It is used literally of a pin holding a door and of someone nursing a child; It can also mean to deem someone as being that supporting or trustworthy. It is the first and commonest Hebrew word translated faithful occurring twenty times. Word Study on Faith (Heb Emunah) The word faithful in Hebrew is ne eman. Associated with this word are two other Hebrew words, emunah faith and amen true. Amen is derived directly from emunah. Notice that the Hebrew spelling of ne eman faithful begins with the common form of nun and ends with nun sofit, as does the full spelling of the word nun. http://www.hissheep.org/special/nun%20-%20messiah-the_faithful_king.html

Case Study of Psalm 145:13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. (KJV) Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. (NIV) Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. [The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.] (ESV) Something missing in the KJV? Case Study of Psalm 145:13 Psalm 145 is an acrostic psalm, with each successive verse beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. However, in the traditional Hebrew (Masoretic) text of Psalm 145 there is no.(נ ( nun verse beginning with the letter One would expect such a verse to appear as (מ) the fourteenth verse, between the mem and samek (ס) verses. The NET Bible (http://www.bible.org/default.asp)

Case Study of Psalm 145:13 The Dead Sea Scroll (DSS) from cave 11, the LXX, and the Syriac, supply the missing nun verse, which reads as follows (The NET (נ ( Bible http://www.bible.org/default.asp): The Lord is reliable in all his words, and faithful in all his deeds. Where the LXX preserved the Hebrew word of faithful (ne eman) as recorded in DSS #11QPsalms a with the Greek word of πιστός (pistos). Case Study of Psalm 145:13 LXX Psalm Hebrew word of faithful (ne eman) is commonly translated to the Greek word of πιστός (pistos). Hebraic Concept of Faith

Word Study of Faith in Isaiah 22:23 I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will be a seat of honor for the house of his father. (NIV) http://interlinearbible.org/isaiah/22-23.htm Word Study of Faith in Isaiah 22:23 The word for a nail that is fastened to a "secure" (emunah) place means firmness, something or someone that is firm in their actions. The word is derived from the root word of aman which means firm, something that is supported or secure. When the Hebrew word emunah is translated as faith which is commonly misperceived as a knowing, while the Hebrew emunah is a firm action. To have faith in God is not knowing that God exists or knowing that he will act, rather it is that the one with emunah will act with firmness toward God's will. http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/27_faith.html Act of Faith

Discipleship is the process of conforming to Christ. While we worry about how fast we grow, God is concerned about how strong we grow. Rick Warren, The Purpose-Driven Life, Zondervan, 2002

Journey of Spiritual Growth God teaches us love by putting some unlovely people around us. God teaches us real joy in the midst of sorrow, when we turn to him. God develops real peace within us, not by making things go the way we planned, but by allowing times of chaos and confusion. Likewise, patience is developed in circumstances in which we're forced to wait and are tempted to be angry or have a short fuse. God uses the opposite situation of the spiritual fruit to allow us a choice. Rick Warren, The Purpose-Driven Life, Zondervan, 2002 Spiritual Fruits (Galatians 5:22-23) Love Joy Peace Longsuffering Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness Self-control

An understanding heart (1 Kings 3:9) So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?
