Learn Mishna by heart, each person according to his capacity, and then, while walking in the street, review Mishna from memory; you will thereby merit welcoming Moshiach. A Chossid once went to the Rebbe in Yechidus and asked: What can I do to be mekushar to you? The Rebbe answered him: When I walk in the streets, I say Tanya Baal Peh. When you go in the streets, you should also chazer Tanya Baal Peh, and this way you will be connected to me. Before the Alter Rebbe printed the Tanya, he sent it to some of his friends, the Tzadikim, Talmidei HaMaggid, that they should give a Haskomo. Reb Zusha of Annipoli said that with the Tanya, the Yidden will go to greet Moshiach. 2

MISHNAYOS BAAL PEH CONTEST RULES 1. The Mishnayos Baal Peh contest will start on Yud Shevat and continue until Yud Alef Nissan. 2. You should first get tested on the 12 Pesukim, Asher Yotzar, Borai Nefoshois, (and Al Hamichya for grades 3 and and up) before proceeding to get tested on anything else. 3. You will be tested in order. Once you start learning a Perek of Mishnayos Baal Peh you must work on completing that Perek before continuing on to another Perek. 4. You may get tested by Rabbi Heidingsfeld, Rabbi Greenbaum, a Rebbe in Cheder or by one of the designated testers who are assigned. You must be able to say what you want to be tested on by heart perfectly, with no mistakes. 5. When saying Siddur, if you make a mistake, you must learn it over, practice again, and when you are ready, be retested 6. In Mishnayos or Tanya, you will pass with a maximum of one mistake per Mishna or per 3 lines of Tanya. If you make more than one mistake, you must review and be retested. 7. If you are doing a Perek Bvas Achas you will pass with a maximum of one mistake every three Mishnayos. Minimum amount of lines to be tested on at one time; MISHNAYOS You have to be tested on at least one full Mishna. (If it is a long Mishna, the amount of at least 2 blues at a time). BOOKLET Grade 3 and Up: You must be tested on at least 3 items at a time TANYA Kita -א & ב 1 Line Kita ג & ד 2 Lines Kita ה & ו 3 Lines Kita ז & ח 3 Lines When you do a Perek Bvas Achas (in one shot), you get Double points. Whether you do it in one shot the first time getting tested, or you get tested on each Mishna and then on the entire Perek, you will end up with the same points. If you do a Masechta Bvas Achas, with no mistakes, you will get TRIPLE points. For 3 Perakim of Tanya Bvas Achas, you get two and a half times points. For 12 Perakim Bvas Achas, you get triple points. Every blue learnt Baal Peh is worth 20 cents of prize money towards Sefarim (yellow = $1.00, red = $5.00 etc.) The price of Seforim for rewards is determined as the retail price of Seforim here in Los Angeles. At the end of the program, a list of Seforim and their worth will be given to you and you will be able to choose the Seforim of your choice (up to the amount you earned). The 12 Pesukim in English 1. The Torah that Moshe commanded us is the heritage of the congregation of Yaakov. 2. Hear O Israel, Hashem is our L-rd, Hashem is One. 3. In every generation one must look upon himself as if he personally had gone out of Egypt. 4. All Israel have a share in the World To Come, as it is stated (Yeshaya 60:21): 'And Your people are tzadikkim.' They shall inherit the land forever.
