Page 3 Clergy Corner Over the last several weeks we have used our parish bulletin to publicize the Eucharistic Adoration prayer service sponsored by the diocesan Commission for Racial Harmony this Sunday, June 3 rd from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral. This particular date was chosen for this particular Sunday because today we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi or the Body of Christ in Holy Communion. On one hand, the Holy Eucharist is the most intense form of unity that we can share with Christ Jesus while we are on the face of the earth. On the other hand, it is also the Holy Eucharist which unites us most intensely with all others who are united to Christ Jesus. Certainly, we as human beings, share a unity with all other members of the human race because of our common humanity. And this unity of the human race is made sacred by the Incarnation of God s own Son. Yet, it is the oneness of our Eucharistic Community which brings our God-given bonds to their ultimate form. It is only fitting, then that our own prayer for Racial Harmony should be combined with this feast of Corpus Christi. Due to our Sunday 6:00p.m. Mass at St. John, I will not be able to attend the prayer service. I hope, though, that many of you will be able to represent our parish and our area at the gathering. And do remember there will be a reception at the St. Joseph Cathedral Parish Hall immediately following the service. All of us as American citizens have the responsibility to make our country one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all. But, for those of us who have the privilege of sharing the Holy Eucharist, this responsibility calls forth all the more. May we answer the Last Supper prayer of Christ Jesus: May all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they may also be in us.
