Cursillo Newsletter March 2017 1 FROM THE LAY DIRECTOR We have a Back to the Mountaintop experience planned for June 17, 2017. Mark your calendars. All Cursillistas plus guests 18 and older are welcome to attend. It will be held at DaySpring in the new Conference Center from 8:30 am 3pm. Registration begins at 8 am. This gives you a chance to renew Christ s spirit within you a Day of Renewal. The day will begin with Morning Prayer and music, followed by some panel discussions on topics that you chose. The afternoon has two breakout sessions. You will select which breakout session you want to attend on the registration form. It will be coming to you soon by Constant Contact. We have some interesting speakers lined up, both clergy and lay persons. One of the afternoon breakout sessions is specifically for those who are scheduled to serve in a leadership position on an upcoming weekend. The panel will also cover leadership positions in your parish, in the Diocese, or on the Secretariat. We invite each parish to bring a display board or a sample of some of the missions their Cursillistas support. The parish displays will be on tables around the room, ready to share with others on breaks, to get ideas on some missions they would like to support. Parish displays will be set up between 8 and 8:30 a.m., and able to be viewed until 3 p.m. The cost to attend is $15, which covers a continental breakfast and a full lunch. This can be paid when you send in your registration form or you can pay at the door. Yours in Christ, Karen Jones, Lay Director National Cursillo Web Site: www.nationalepiscopalcursillo.org Southwest Florida Cursillo Web Site: http://www.cursilloswfla.org

Cursillo Newsletter March 2017 3 SIGANME (FOLLOW ME) A NOTE FROM THE RECTORA OF CURSILLO #136-4TO EN ESPAÑOL Theme: Siganme (Follow Me) May 18-21, 2017 The Leadership Team had its first meeting on January 21 at St. Francis, who is sharing space at St. Mark s Tampa. We then traveled to Redeemer in Sarasota on February 18. We re very excited to be the first Hispanic Cursillo at the new Program Center. Lots of room to dance! Thank you, Lord. There s still room for team members. I m accepting applications, and Spanish is not required. The leaders speak both languages, and some non-spanish speaking team members have worked a Spanish weekend before. So you won t be completely lost! The pilgrim applications are slowly coming in. If you know someone who speaks Spanish and is looking to share in Christ s blessings, please encourage them. Both the Team and Pilgrim applications are on the website, in Spanish. Please continue to keep the team and pilgrims in your prayers. De Colores! In HIS name, Mickey Vallejo Rectora #136-4to en Español

Cursillo Newsletter March 2017 4 FROM THE SERVANT TEAM - CURSILLO #136-4TO EN ESPAÑOL There are many time slots available on the Prayer Vigil during each of the four days of Cursillo #136. Please sign up for these open times and encourage other Cursillistas at your parish church to sign up for their prayer times. Go to the www.cursilloswfla.org website and drop Patricia Bailey an email (Patriciabailey1202@yahoo.com) or give her a call 941-296-5832.. The usual practice for your scheduled hour of prayer is to pray for the Pilgrims, the Team Members and for Christ to be among and guiding the weekend of Cursillo #136. At the end of your prayer hour, please phone or email the next person on the Prayer Vigil schedule to alert them that their prayer hour for Cursillo #136 Vigil is now beginning. It is appropriate and usual that you include in your notice to them the phrase, "Christ is counting on you." Drinks are needed for the weekend. Soft drinks and large supplies of water are welcome as your palanca. Smaller bottles of water are encouraged as many people leave water bottles half filled. Beverages can be given to any team member or Sponsor for delivery to Dayspring. Assorted candy (both sugar and sugar free) are welcome remember LOTS of chocolates! Green palanca is also welcome, and that can go to Barbara Martinez, the weekend's Bell Ringer. All placemats are out for coloring and we thank you for taking them. Please be sure to return them promptly. AND remember, no colored markers. Only crayons should be used as the colored markers run on the tables when they get wet. Please return them to Patricia Bailey. Siganme Follow me Patricia Bailey Servant Chair

Cursillo Newsletter March 2017 5 URSILLO #135 F CURSILLO #135 FOURTH DAY FOURTH DAY MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR MARCH 18 TH 2017 The Cursillo Weekend is not an end to itself. It begins the rest of your life. It is a starting point that lasts the rest of your life and a springboard to a long-range practice of the Baptismal Covenant in the life of the Church called the Fourth Day. Everything that is done in terms of the Cursillo methodology and purpose has the 4th Day as its end objective. Cursillo is patterned on Jesus' own example. He searched out and called a small group of potential leaders (Pre-Cursillo); He trained them by word and example and inspired them with a vision (Three- Day Weekend); He linked them together and sent them out into the world to bring the world to Him (Fourth Day). Cursillo goals are to change the world, to remake the world in Christ, and to restore all things to Christ. What a wonderful vision this is!!! And this is what the Fourth Day is all about. Whether this is your first Weekend or your fiftieth Weekend, come and renew your understanding of the fundamentals of the Cursillo movement and share your victories in Cursillo. 0ur Fourth Day Gathering for Cursillo #135 will be held at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, 604 Valrico Road, Valrico, FL 33594, on March 18, 2017 from 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM. Pilgrims, Sponsors, and Team from #135 are expected to attend. Everyone in the Cursillo Community is encouraged to come and share this continuation of Cursillo #135. Your participation is a blessing.
