EXTENDED Pilgrimage: January 20-28, 2019 9 days/8 nights. Estimated cost $2700. Both packages include: roundtrip airfare, ground transportation, 3 star hotel accommodations, most meals, WYD registration fee, pilgrim backpack, and Diocese of Arlington WYD t-shirts. The extended package also includes a visit to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort for a day of retreat led by Steve Angrisano. YOUTH: Pilgrims must be 16-18 years old or 14-15 with a parent attending. All youth must be part of a parish group to participate. Each parish will need a stakeholder who will coordinate their group and be the main point of contact for communicating with the Diocese. YOUNG ADULTS: The range for this age group is 19-35. Young adults may register individually or form a parish group with their own stakeholder. Please contact Christine Najarian at 703-841-2559 or c.najarian@arlingtondiocese.org with any questions. Thank you!

When God touches the heart of a young man or woman, they become capable of doing tremendous things. The great things that the Almighty accomplished in the life of Mary speak also to our own journey in life, which is not a meaningless meandering, but a pilgrimage that, for all its uncertainties and sufferings, can find its fulfilment in God - The Holy Father s Message for the 32 nd World Youth Day Dear Directors of Youth Ministry, Campus Ministers, and Coordinators of Young Adult Ministry, September 22, 2017 We are excited to announce that the Diocese of Arlington will be offering a pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2019! After surveying parishes at our Annual Kick-off, we found that there is sufficient interest despite the winter timeframe of this particular World Youth Day. We have already secured great lodging in downtown Panama City that will allow us offer an extended pilgrimage as well as a basic long weekend pilgrimage option. It is our hope that one or both of these options will be suitable for your parish and that you will be able to participate in this holy adventure! The experience of diocesan community on our pilgrimage is truly unique, and is enhanced by the opportunity for young people to be with diocesan priests, seminarians, and religious sisters. Our office takes care of all of the details so that each group is able to focus on preparing their participants and doing the necessary fundraising for the trip. World Youth Day is truly a pilgrimage experience. Each day will focus upon prayer, catechesis, and the sacraments, with the highlight of participating in Mass with Pope Francis at the end of the week. There are two pilgrimage options; please prayerfully consider which will be best for your group. You may split between the two, but will need an adequate number of adult leaders per segment to do so. BASIC PILGRIMAGE: January 24-28, 2019 5 days/4 nights. Estimated cost $2100. EXTENDED Pilgrimage: January 20-28, 2019 9 days/8 nights. Estimated cost $2700. Both packages include: roundtrip airfare, ground transportation, 3 star hotel accommodations, most meals, WYD registration fee, pilgrim backpack, and Diocese of Arlington WYD t-shirts. The extended package also includes additional time to explore Panama City and a visit to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort for a day of retreat led by Steve Angrisano. Our World Youth Day 2019 preparations will kick off with the first Stakeholder Meeting on October 30th, 2017, 7:30-9:00pm. The meeting will be a live webinar, so you may attend from the comfort of your own home! Please e-mail c.najarian@arlingtondiocese.org to RSVP so that we can provide you with the link. This meeting is mandatory for all groups that want to participate in World Youth Day 2019. Your Stakeholder Covenant and $500 deposit per pilgrim are due on Friday, December 1. Attached you will find the preparation schedule and Stakeholder s Covenant. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries at (703) 841-2559. Sincerely in Christ, Christine Najarian, Assistant Director Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries Brendan Gotta, Young Adult Coordinator
