Elementary Large Group Week 6: November 15 & 16 Need To Know: Take Action and Don t Let Fear Control You PROGRAM NOTES Bible Lesson: The Lord is My Shepherd & David- Psalm 23 & 1 Samuel 17 Stage Set-up:! FearBuster Backdrop hung and stage set as pictured! The phone, computer, snake food, mailbox, and FearBusted button will be used Characters: WRIGHT, KNACK, and additional video characters (Keeley, Shawn, Professor). Props:! Note- on lab table! Envelope with letter inside (in mailbox)! Snake Food- on stage each week 1

PROGRAM PRE-LARGE GROUP MUSIC FB_ES_LG_Counter Worship leader(s) take stage. Hey everyone! Can you believe this is the last week of FearBusters? We ve had so much fun busting fears with prayer, truth, trust, and by taking action. We ve learned all about how God frees us from our fears. That reminds me of a great fearbusting song. Let s all stand up and sing Whom Shall I Fear together! Ready? 3 2 1 WHOM SHALL I FEAR Last week, we learned that we can bust fear by taking action. This week, we are going to see what it looks like to take action when you are afraid. The big thing to remember is that when we take action, we aren t letting our fear control us. I m sure Moe and Nic have some major fear busting to do today, so let s head on into the lab. I want everyone to count it down with me as loud as you can! 3 2 1 ACTION! Worship leader(s) exits. FB_ES_LG_Opener ACT ONE: Bible Story Video enters and finds a note on the lab table from 2

(Picking up note) Huh. It s a note from Nic. It says, Hey Moe. I had to run back home because I forgot my lunchbox. I ll be back soon. Until I get there, please feed Steve and get started busting fears. Feel free to call the field team if you need anything. Nic. (Putting note back on lab table) What? Nic must think that I don t know how to do anything without him/her. I can handle myself being alone in the lab. I do it all the time. I ll just go ahead and feed Steve. (Puts Snake Food into aquarium) There ya go buddy. See? I m not alone in the lab. I ve got Steve here to keep me company. Now, I ll just get busy busting fears. First, I ll check the mailbox. (Takes envelope out of mailbox) Look! There s some FearMail in here. What does it say? (Takes letter out of envelope and reads aloud) Dear FearBusters, my name is Kiyasha ( Key-ah-sha ). The other day, I got lost while I was at the grocery store with my mom. I was SO scared! I was all alone and didn t know where my mom was! Now, I m so afraid of getting lost that I won t go anywhere other than my house. But it s getting really boring here. Can you help me bust my fear of getting lost and being all alone? (cont d) (Looking around the lab, getting frantic) I know what you mean about being alone, Kiyasha. I know I said it wouldn t bother me to be all by myself, but I think I don t like this very much. I m in no frame of mind to be busting fears! I need to call the field team and see if they can help! (Going over to computer, pretending to click) Hey ya ll! I m all alone here in the lab and it s starting to worry me. Can you help me bust this fear until Nic gets back? FB_ES_Wk6_LG_Bible Story Video FB_ES_LG _Logo w/ Acting Music enters during Bible Story Video. Wow! That s awesome how Keeley busted that fear by taking action and not letting her fear control her. (Seeing Nic, running over and hugging him/her for an awkward amount of time) 3

Oh Nic! You re back! I missed you so much! Umm I wasn t gone that long, you know. Moe releases Nic., cont. It s important to remember that when we are scared, God is with us and will take care of us. He s bigger and more powerful than ALL of our fears. We can take action and stop letting our fears control us because God is with us! You re right, Nic! I think that means this fear is busted! Ready? Fear BUSTED! (Hits Fear Busted Button) Well, I guess it s bye for now, FearBusters! We ve had an awesome time here at CF Kids! Always remember that God will bust your fears through prayer, trust, truth, and taking action. Goodbye! (Nic and Moe exit) and Worship leader(s) take stage. WORSHIP LEADER It s so sad to see Moe and Nic go, but I know that we ll all remember what we learned from them about busting our fears! Let s review what happened today. What should we do when we are afraid? (Pray, remember God s truth, trust God, and then take action) When we take action, do we let our fears control us? (No) If you can take action when you are afraid, let me hear you make some noise! Psalm 23 is a prayer that David wrote before he went to visit his brothers at the battle line. In this prayer, David says that God will give us what we need, He will show us the right way to go, and He will take care of us. When we are confident in these things, we can take action! 4

Now, we re going to play a game that will lead us to what we Need to Know today. The professor will have three cups. Underneath one of these cups is a ball. Follow the cup with the ball and then try to guess where the ball is at the end! Ready? 3 2 1 GO! FB_ES_Wk8_LG_N2K Game FB_ES_Wk8_LG_N2K w/ Teaching Music Let me get everyone to stand up and say this with me: Take Action and Don t Let Fear Control You! Optional Motions: Take Action (ninja chop) and Don t Let (shake head no ) Fear Control You! (walk like a robot) TURKEY OLYMPICS- SLIDE WORSHIP LEADER I ve loved learning about busting fears, but I m really excited about what s coming next! You will all want to be back next weekend for our Turkey Olympics! We will have a fun-filled service with turkey plucking, stuffing, and cooking, but more importantly, we will learn how to have thankful hearts toward God. Be back next weekend, and bring a friend! Offering Slide Offering time is when we give our money back to God. As we give, we can say thank you to God for his many blessings. If you brought offering today, please place it (established location). God loves a generous giver! Let s pray. Dear Jesus, thank You for the many blessings You have given. We don t deserve anything, but You are the giver of all good gifts. We love You, Jesus! Now please accept our offerings and use them to spread Your love to the whole world. Amen. November Family Mission Slide You may have noticed that we already have a Christmas Tree up around here! That s our Giving Tree. Ask your parents if you may take one of the ornaments (show sample ornament) from that tree home to take part in our November Family Mission (hold up Family Mission Flyer)! You will purchase a gift for a child in need and then return the ornament with the gift any weekend this month. Let s make giving the new getting this year! OPTIONAL FINAL SONG- Do Not Fear (If time permits) 5
