W s Reflec tions... For FCC of Allen, this is a season of new beginnings. But, it is also an interim or transitional period of time. And, here I am...stuck in the middle with you as your Interim Pastor! But, what does this interim period mean for you and for me? The fact is that most churches sooner or later will experience a season of pastoral transition, i.e., moving on from one pastor and moving toward the call of a new pastor. And so, what does this mean for FCC of Allen? For one thing, it means this interim season is a temporary period of time. But secondly, it is also a new season of opportunity. This interim period can serve to revitalize the truth that you, as FCC of Allen, are a community of people who possess a unique identity as well as a shared life together in Jesus Christ. And then, what does this interim season mean for me? For one, it means that I want to teach you, admonish you, encourage you, pray with you, and love you during this season of transition. And second, I want to seek God s wisdom and guidance in helping to prepare you for the new pastor that God has prepared for you. In the meantime, let s continue to pray: Lord, send people to us and send us to people. The Lord be with you, Wyatt ************************************************ A PASSOVER TO DELIVERANCE (Exodus 12:21-28) What does this ceremony mean to you? The Passover meal for Israel was a Table set for the purpose to proclaim the story of God s deliverance from their bondage in Egypt. The ritual of a Passover meal would serve as a forever reminder of how God passed over them because of the blood of a lamb that was painted on the doorframes of their dwelling places. The Passover meal would also remind Israel that salvation was God s work, i.e., it was all about God s gracious initiative and the choice the LORD had made to save them. Today, the Lord s Table is set to declare that our Passover is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and his blood has been painted on the doorframes of our hearts (John 1:29; cf., 1 Corinthians 5:7). The Lord s Table declares that we have been saved by grace and the blood of Jesus Christ is and remains our Passover to deliverance from any bondage that would keep us. And so, what does this ceremony mean to you?
