LEWISVILLE IS A STEPHEN MINISTRY CHURCH. Stephen Ministers are trained lay care-givers who provide emotional and spiritual care to persons who are experiencing difficulties in their lives hospitalization, loss of a loved one, loss of job, or any other crisis situation. This is care in addition to the care the pastor gives. If you are interested in having a Stephen Minister, fill out one of the slips in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate or hand it to the minister or one of the Stephen Leaders or Tom Lee. RED BIRD MISSION TRIP: The Missions Committee has decided to plan and prepare for our church to send a team of 12 (or more!) to serve at the Red Bird Mission Work Camp in Beverly, KY July 30-Aug 5th 2017. From their website: "This is a year-round work opportunity for volunteers in mission and serviceminded groups. Work Camp strives to provide home repair for low-income community residents and maintenance for Mission buildings and grounds. Some examples of work projects are roof replacement, small room additions, painting, building porches or ramps, and grounds keeping. Other light duty work is available such as cutting soup upc s, office work, craft and community store helpers, and recycling. A single fee covers the cost of each person s lodging, meals, and materials used. In addition to providing mission opportunities, we strive to provide an atmosphere where participants grow spiritually and gain a personal understanding of mission. Evenings are spent in Christian fellowship and learning about the diverse ministries of Red Bird Mission." The cost per team member is $375. The Missions Committee will be sponsoring fundraisers to offset the expense, so don t let the cost stop you from signing up! If you are interested in serving on the team, please contact Pastor Susan or one of the Missions Committee Members. To learn more about this mission experience go to http://rbmission.org/work-camp/ ITEMS NEEDED FOR LCAP: There has been an inquiry as to what LCAP collects. The collectable is listed in each newsletter. There is no certain time of collecting; we collect all year long. These are some of the collectables: canned foods, canned meats, whole meals, condiments (mayo, mustard, ketchup), salad dressings, personal hygiene items (deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.), cleaning products, dishwashing liquid/powder, dried beans, rice, powdered milk, jellies, and money. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This year we will again use poinsettias during the Christmas season.
