UNITED METHODIST NEWSLETTER Channahon United Methodist Church April 2014 PRESIDENT S NOTE: Spring is here! Spring calls for a little clean up. Sometimes we need to clean up ourselves, and not dwell on the negative things. The bible encourages us to draw close to God and allow our hearts and bodies to be cleansed. This is the first step in our spring cleaning project. We can t clean ourselves. Instead we must draw near to God and ask Him to do the cleansing. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22. Channahon United Methodist Women are doing amazing things. We have just had a wonderful evening of fun, fellowship, and devotion with April Fools & Fun hosted by Ruth Circle. About 30 women were present with every circle represented and some guests as well. Ladies Aid continues to serve our community with the Thrift Shop and they have paid the first portion of our church s insurance. Circle of Hope will be providing food for our Easter Sunrise breakfast, and Hannah Jessup and Rachel Circle are planning to participate in a diaper drive for Chanooka Wish. We have a great committee working to plan our Mother/ Daughter Banquet. Please plan to join us on May 9 at 6 p.m. for Mothers & Daughters BFF. Tickets will go on sale April 13 after the 9 a.m. service and will be sold each Sunday through May 4. Check out the publicity on our UMW bulletin board and in the bulletin. Again, I am so proud to call myself a member of Channahon UMW. Blessings, Char The UMW Purpose: To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ. To develop a creative supportive fellowship. To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. 1
