GATHERING Prelude Gathering Hymns Brethren, we have met to worship HWB 8 God is here among us HWB 16 Welcome (Visitors are invited to fill out a welcome card and place it in the offering basket.) Passing the Peace Call to Worship (based on Exodus 15:1-11, 20-21; Romans 14:1-12) Leader: No one is an island. We are all joined in Christ Jesus. Left: Who else is like you, loving God? Right: Who is like you: beautiful in holiness, awesome in all the things you do for us? Leader: No one lives by themselves, no one dies by themselves. Left: Whether we live or die Right: we are the Lord s. ALL: The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. Confession Leader: What if God paid us back in full for all the wrong we have done? (pause) People: O Lord we seek your mercy... Leader: yet we ourselves look for payback when we are wronged. People: We think it only fair and what is right when we retaliate, use harsh words, and withdraw from relationship. Leader: The forgiveness you offer on our account is larger than we can comprehend, still we withhold forgiveness and carry the grudge over petty items. People: We are eager to do your judging. Leader: And the worst: we conspire our inner thoughts to secure your forgiveness while avoiding honest repentance. ALL : Forgive us Lord for the sins we know in our hearts. Save us Lord from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination) Opening Prayer
