You ve no doubt heard it before, life is a journey. Throughout my journey I have become convinced of a number of things. Among them are the following 1) God desires to love and lead us throughout our journey. 2) A journey without Christ is one void of true life. 3) God has given us His Word (the Bible) to help us on the journey. 4) The journey is best when shared with others. It s with these in mind that this booklet has been created as part of our discipleship process (Walking with Jesus). The next page will provide an outline of that process so you can see where you re at and identify your next step. If you find that you ve skipped a step, have questions about a step, or want to take the next step - I d love to hear from you. ROOTED - An assisted journey through the book of John. ilife / ilife for Students - This discipleship journey/ membership class will provide teaching on core beliefs, KWC s core values, core disciplines, and how we are SHAPED to serve. *Grow Groups- Connect with others who are walking with Jesus in order to better live the life that God has for us. There is a Bible reading plan that I encourage you to follow so we as a church can engage God s Word together. I ve also provided instructions *Life Journal - engage God s Word by participating in a regular Bible reading plan that will help you love, learn, & live God s Word. and a sample for journaling. It may feel a little overwhelming at first, but I can assure you - it will become rather natural before long and I believe the results will be supernatural as you allow God to speak to you and then respond in faith. For 2019, we ll be spending a little extra time in the Old Testament. We ll PHASE 3 Serving Like Jesus *Serve in the Church - KWC will continually be looking at providing opportunities to serve based on one s SHAPE while also equipping them to serve more effectively. *Serve outside the Church - opportunities to serve outside of KWC will be provided by the Outreach Team. also look at the two most prominent books that discuss the End Times. *MAKE DISCIPLES - Help others connect & walk with Jesus Enjoy the journey, I m praying for you! That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
HOW TO USE THIS JOURNAL STEP 1 Read the passages. Read with an open heart and Jesus will give you words of encouragement, direction, and correction (2 Tim 3:16). STEP 2 When Jesus gives you a life lesson, turn to a fresh page in your Daily Pages to record what He has just shown you. Write today s date. Give your lesson a title. Write down the main Scripture - usually 1-3 verses. (Scripture) Write what you see in the Scripture. (Observation) Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read. (Application) Write out your prayer. (Prayer) STEP 3 Turn to the Table of Contents. Write your entry by date, Scripture, topic, title, and page. STEP 4 Conclude your daily devotional time by turning to the Prayer List and then pray for what you have written. REMEMBER This Journal is designed to serve you in your growth with Christ. You can be flexible in how you use it, but be sure to develop a healthy habit of spending time daily with the Lord. Some have asked, When is the best time for my devotions? In the morning or in the evening? My answer to that is, The best time is when you re at your best! If you re a morning person, do your devotions in the morning. If you re an evening person, do your devotions at night. The bottom line is: Jesus deserves your best, so give Him the best part of your day! SAMPLE TITLE: DO WHATEVER DATE: July 10, 2017 Scripture: John 2:5 "His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you. Observation: Mary is right in telling the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them. After all, Jesus is the Son of God and therefore a) knows what He is doing b) is the ultimate authority. The servants obeyed even though some of the instructions surely would have been counter-intuitive and quite possibly seemed downright silly or wasteful. Application: I need to do whatever Jesus says even when it seems counter-intuitive or a waste (time, resources, energy, etc). Prayer: Lord, may I have whatever you say" kind of faith. Amen
