THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH 3 Pastor s Corner / Rincón del Pastor The Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Dear Family of Faith, Merry Christmas! Yes, it is still the Solemnity of Christmas. Within the octave of Christmas, we celebrate the wonderful gift of family life, modeled under the Holy Family with Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Reflecting on the birth of Jesus, it is important to note that Our Lord was not born out of isolation from love; rather, Divine Love was conceived and born in the context of heartfelt human love and Divine Grace. And such should Divine Love be born in every family; love and grace ought to be the context of the fostering of love and righteousness in the family home. May our prayer this week be for our families, our young and elder members especially because in our civil culture, the family unit is vulnerable and susceptible to the secular ideologies of our time. May the grace of Christmas shine upon our families and indeed, our parish family so that we may grow and mature in love and righteousness. May God s tender, vulnerable and unconditional love be born anew in your families. Merry Christmas! Blessings, Fr. Feliz Navidad! World Day of Peace - January 1 O God, Creator of the universe, who extends your paternal concern over every creature and guides the events of history to the goal of salvation, we acknowledge your fatherly love when you break the resistance of mankind and, in a world torn by strife and discord, you make us ready for reconciliation. Renew for us the wonders of your mercy; send forth your Spirit that he may work in the intimacy of hearts, that enemies may begin to dialogue, that adversaries may shake hands and peoples may encounter one another in harmony. May all commit themselves to the sincere search for true peace which will extinguish all arguments, for charity which overcomes hatred, for pardon which disarms revenge. - St. Pope John Paul II Time To Update Your Record Have you moved, changed your email address or mobile phone number(s) this year? The response of faith, in turn, is historical, meaning that it must be renewed and refreshed again and again. Our parish is blessed to offer a few different avenues for learning about, or refreshing, our faith. We invite you to join us! In addition to our Parish Religious Education Program for children and teens, we also offer Adult Bible Study on Tuesday mornings, RCIA for those inquiring about the Catholic faith (or those who would like to refresh their knowledge of the Church), an Hispanic Prayer Group, and an Indian Prayer Group. We also offer FORMED, The Catholic Faith On Demand, to all of our parishioners and guests. For more information about our bible studies and prayer groups, please contact the parish office. If you would like to sign up for FORMED, please visit formed.org on your computer or mobile device. Enter our parish code HPK4VT on the homepage and create a personal account with your email and password (which you will use to login to FORMED). We have a parish subscription, so there is no cost to you to use FORMED. Welcome Home! If you have you have been away from the Catholic Church for any length of time, our parish family is delighted to welcome you back to St. Peter's this weekend! We want you to know that as a community, we miss you. In this world of chaos, confusion, and uncertainty, the one sure thing that never changes is God's love and mercy and His desire that we turn to Him. If you have not already done so, we invite you to visit the Catholic Come Home website at www.catholicscomehome.org.
