September 2014 Pastor s Desk In this Issue Pastor s Desk Nuggets from the Bible Sunday School News Deeper Life Refuge Thursday Night Worship Pray and Play Music Ministries Bloom Ministries Men s Ministries and so much more! Well summer is officially over. The kids are back in school, football is kicking off on all levels, and the temperature may be down a degree or two. We are looking forward to the fall and the challenges and changes as a new season begins. We hope that you will join us for one of our Bible Studies / Small groups. Please call our office to find out how you can get plugged into a group where you can enjoy some great fellowship and Bible Study. We also have some great men's and women's conferences and fellowships on the horizon that always create a sense of camaraderie and spiritual growth. God is certainly blessing us at Live Oak and we want to continue to grow in Grace and Truth. In the month of September we will be preaching a new series "Prophecy at Ground Zero." We want to study what is happening prophetically in the middle-east and here at home. We will be studying, What does the Bible Continued on page 2...

Pastor s Desk (continued).. say we are to look for? and Be aware of in these unique times. We hope to see you soon and let s keep looking up, our redemption draws nigh. God bless Hope to see you Sunday Mark C. Nuggets from the Bible Isaiah 40:8, John 17:17 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God stands forever. Set them apart (sanctify) them by the truth, your word is truth. WHEN YOU READ THE BIBLE THROUGH... I suppose I knew my Bible, Reading piecemeal, hit or miss, Now a bit of John or Matthew, Now a snatch of Genesis, Certain chapters of Isaiah, Certain Psalms (the twenty-third), Twelfth of Romans, First of Proverbs Yes, I thought I knew the Word! But I found that thorough reading Was a different thing to do, And the way was unfamiliar When I read the Bible through, We who like to play at Bible, Dip and dabble, here and there, Just before we kneel, aweary, And yawn through a hurried prayer; We who treat the Crown of Writings As we treat no other book Just a paragraph disjointed, Just a crude impatient look Try a worthier procedure, Try a broad and steady view; You will kneel in very rapture When you read the Bible through! - Amos R. Wells Our Bible is God s truth, His Word. It is eternal and sets believers apart from the rest of the world. When we read and study the Bible it s like finding a box of letters in an attic that provides us a look at those who have gone on before us. When truth, promises and blessings are read and reread, they become more precious each time. God loves His children, and has sent us letters from home to read, study, and reread. This is our Bible. We receive a special blessing like no other when we read the Bible straight through from Genesis to Revelation. We get a progressive picture of God s plan for us and the world from beginning to eternity. It s a thing of honor, a glory to God to read our Bible and commit its words to our heart and our mind. We can say to ourselves It s talking to me and about me. We can read it through in a year by reading four chapters a day. ARA SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS! Sunday School at both 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Things to look for are: Adult Classes, Youth Classes, Children s Classes and updated Children s Church and classrooms. Come see what it s all about! Call Rev. Sam LoBello (Adult Classes), Rev. David Orges (Youth) and Trish Graves (Children s Classes) at the church office to discuss which class is best for you and your family.
