Following an educational period of 2.5 years of discussions, study sessions, and with input from members of the LGBTQ community in PEI, Trinity-Clifton Pastoral charge voted to become an Affirming Ministry on Dec. 6, 2015, the first Affirming Ministry on PEI. As part of our congregational studies, Trinity-Clifton developed the Vision Statement listed below which was approved at a Congregational Meeting on May 24, 2015. Vision Statement We, the Trinity-Clifton Christian family, believe that God has blessed us with diversity, including diversity in sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, age, ability and faith. We believe that Jesus challenged boundaries by reaching out to all people, welcoming and honouring all in their uniqueness. We publicly declare our commitment to openness, growth, action, and education, honouring diversity and challenging injustice in solidarity with those who experience discrimination. We offer our resources and talents with open hands and hearts in love and service to all as we work for reconciliation and justice locally, regionally, and globally. ************ Our ongoing commitment as an Affirming Congregation and Ministry is to offer a ministry that publicaly declares our commitment to inclusion and justice for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Although Affirming Ministries make an explicit statement about issues of sexuality and gender, their commitment to justice is far broader as stated in the goals of Affirm United below: Affirm United goals are: To support United Church Ministries in their ministry to people of all sexual orientation and gender identities. To broaden Social Justice Concerns within church and society. 7

Trinity Development Committee During the past several months your Development Committee has been exploring numerous options to bring new musical entertainment to Trinity United. Thus far we have hosted what we hope will become an annual Variety Show, a wonderful evening of entertainment presented by talented individuals from within our congregation. An Ashley MacIsaac Christmas followed in December and Ten Strings and a Goat Skin/Lennie Gallant/Vishten in March, both co-produced with The Indian River Festival. Between now and June 3, we have five concerts scheduled and others are in various stages of planning. Men of The Harvest, a 20+ person multi-denominational men s gospel choir will bring its four-part harmony to Trinity, Sun., Apr. 15. For the young and young at heart, Island icons Richard Wood, Gordon Belsher and Brad Fremlin, accompanied by Celtic dancers will bring their World Class Kitchen Party to Trinity Fri., May 18. Arioso will perform on Sun., June 3. This six-lady choir, based in Kensington, has performed gospel and contemporary music to appreciative audiences throughout the Province for the past several years. All events of course have a financial component. Some we consider not feasible to take on, either by ourselves or in partnership with others. In these situations we explore the possibility of renting our sanctuary using a base rental rate plus additional costs for patrons exceeding predetermined numbers. This considered; 8

The Indian River Festival has rented Trinity Friday, April 13 th to present its concert A Celtic Spring Fling an event headlined by The Paul McKenna Band from Glasgow Scotland that features stories, songs, even pipes. The band will be joined by Cassie & Maggie, Traditional Juno Award Nominees and Canadian Folk Music Winners from Nova Scotia. Similarly, Rawlins Cross featuring local favourite Joey Kitson will perform April 21 st. Development has been in contact with numerous other wellknown artists with whom we are in various stages of discussion. The committee understands music in all its forms can be a very personal thing, so we d like to give you an opportunity to provide suggestions as to what you would like to hear going forward as well as feedback on concerts held thus far. Our goal is to identify musical entertainment of differing genres we feel appropriate to Trinity, while contributing to our financial wellbeing. Your input in this process is important to us. As we continue to seek opportunities for future events we would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions as to possible groups, individual artists or choirs of interest to you. Please forward your comments to Bob MacNutt at bgmacnutt@pei.sympatico.ca. All will be shared and discussed with the Development Committee. 9
