It just was Halloween and Thanksgiving, and all of a sudden Christmas songs and house lights decorations appear. The month of November was busy, with the Michigan District # 1 meeting at St. Montie Falco Church in Groose Pt. Park, MI. While our meeting was going on, the ladies were packaging about 140 boxes, to be sent to our troops overseas. On 11/11/11 at the Veterans Pt.on Livernois and Avon Rd.. One of the presentations was given by Grand Knight Bill Grogan of Council # 5452, a embroidered wheelchair given to V.F.W. Post in Shelby Twp.,Quarter Master S.K. John Benczik received the chair for his Post. The Rochester Christmas Parade was gloomy, it did not rain between 2 and 4 o'clock, our Color Corp and the float received a beautiful participation ribbon award. Our Assembly will not have a meeting on December 27th 2011, because of the Christmas season, next meeting will be January 31, 2012. Coming up is the Spring Exemplification on March 3, 2012, at the Chrystal Gardens Banquet Center, Southgate MI. Alex Kiwior who is our Admission Director and I were promoting the 4th Degree at our four Councils these past weeks. Sacred Heart Council # 8659 G.K.Jeff Meyers, Fr. Gjergi Fishta Council # 10343 G.K. Franjo Lulgjuraj, Fr. Baumgartner Council # 5452 G.K. William Grogan, St. Mary of the Hills Council # 13950, G.K. William Sabanos. The response was well received. Brother Sir Knights please encourage your fellow council members to join the 4th Degree and tell them now is the time for their commitment. Have a wonderful New Year. Vivat Jesus (Jesus lives through you) David Koss Some Insurance Talk For this month s column, I thought a little Life Insurance 101 might be beneficial. Whole life insurance is the most basic plan of permanent life insurance protection, and calls for premiums to be paid for your entire life, or to age 100. You may also consider another permanent life insurance product one with guaranteed cash values that offers a limited period of premium payments. The Knights of Columbus offers three permanent life insurance products for which premiums do not have to be paid for all of life. Twenty Pay Life is exactly as the name suggests: a permanent plan with premiums payable for 20 years. After the premiums are paid for the 20 years, the plan is paid up and no more premiums are due. Unlike its term counterpart, however, the plan stays (Continued on page 2 Insurance )

Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 The Stars & Stripes Color Corps : In Action Saturday December 4th again rain, nor snow, nor the wind and bitter cold could keep the Knights Color Corps from participating in the annual Rochester Christmas Parade. Page 2 The original Pledge of Allegiance "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands- one nation indivisible-with liberty and justice for all."...was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy,. At the first National Flag Conference in Washington D.C. in 1923, a change was made. For clarity, the words "the Flag of the United States" replaced "my flag". In 1942 that Congress officially recognized the Pledge of Allegiance. In June of 1954 an amendment was made to add the words "under God". T h e n - P r e s i d e n t Dwight D. Eisenhower said "In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall c o n s t a n t l y strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource in peace and war." Pro-Life : Auburn Hills Abortion Clinic Update The building at 1625 N. Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills, MI, that Planned Parenthood (PP) wants Give it a Watch If you have 30 minutes consider watching the documentary 180 at www.180movie.com. For most of us Sir Knights we have a reasonably accurate memory of the 1900 s, however, in this documentary it makes you wonder if history is being taught at all. to turn into an abortion clinic, still remains gutted. Indeed, on Dec. 7, 2011 was one year to the day when CPLS organized 200 residents of Oakland County and jammed the Auburn Hills City Council chambers demanding action to keep PP from ever opening this place of death. The Comfort Inn Suites located directly behind the PP Insurance (Continued from pg 1 ) in force, the death benefit remains intact and the guaranteed cash value continues to grow. Another such plan is our Life Paid Up at 65. With this permanent product you pay premiums until you reach age 65. Then, premiums stop (just in time for retirement), but the plan remains very much in force. Finally, the ultimate in limited pay is our Single Premium Life product. Imagine buying life insurance permanent life insurance and only paying one single premium? It s possible. Opdyke Road building, enforced its deed restriction against PP. PP took the hotel owners to court and this case is still in the works! The next hearing is January of 2012 and the trial date is not set until May 2012. PLEASE PRAY THAT JUDGE JAMES ALEX- ANDER WILL RULE AGAINST PP AND IN FAVOR OF THE COM- FORT INN SUITES! I have detailed information on all of these products. At your convenience, I ll meet with you and your wife to perform a free, custom-tailored needs analysis, to help determine which of our many life insurance products is right for you and your family. I m at 248-835-1380 Call me let s talk. Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 Page 3 KNIGHTS VISIT THE JOHN D. DINGELL VA MEDICAL CENTER On Monday, December 5 th, a group of 4 th Degree Knights organized by SK John Benczik, traveled to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit. The group, which included Rich Alexander, Alex Kiwior and Bill Travnik, met at the Big Red Barn home of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) #129. The purpose of the trip was to join with the DAV too spread Christmas cheer to those veterans that reside at the center. After dinner, a group of Knights and DAV personnel visited the in patients distributing small bags of personal care items and small blankets donated by the DAV. The patients were most appreciative for these items and many had kind words for the volunteers. The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center is maintained by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and offers a variety of health care services, information, and benefits to qualifying veterans. The center is comprised of a series of buildings, under one roof, joined by various access routes. In certain cases, a visitor needs to go down/up a flight in order to enter the adjoining building. All and all, it is a very modern and astatically pleasing structure complete with skylights providing a positive ambiance to patients and visitors alike. The chapel was constructed from glass cubes offering a most unique feature of the center. Benczik is looking for more Knights to join him in future visits to the medical center. You would find the trip most satisfying and would be providing a great deal of fellowship to the veterans, many of whom are spending their last days here on earth. In closing, a special thanks to SK Rich Alexander for driving on a cold and snowy evening! Americans by 2:1 Margin Prefer Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays This Knights of Columbus-Marist Poll found that nearly two-thirds of adults nationally 64% think people should say, Merry Christmas, while less than one-third 31% believe the appropriate greeting is Happy Holidays. Four percent are unsure. The proportion that prefers Merry Christmas increased slightly this year. Last year, 61% thought Merry Christmas was the more appropriate greeting while 35% preferred Happy Holidays. Five percent, at that time
