Saint Rafael Guizar Valencia Assembly 3018 KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Our Lady of Guadalupe Province District 2 San Antonio, Texas The Knights of Columbus...a Catholic, Family, Fraternal, Service Organization Volume 01, Issue 02 February 2007 Navigator s Log Our assembly is approved and we have been assigned number 3018. We already have several inquires about transferring to our assembly. Our next meeting will be February 8th at 7:00 PM and will be the installation of officers. This is a historical moment for our assembly and we will only have the installation and a social after. ALL OFFICERS MUST BE IN TUXEDOS with the social Baldric and should be there at Christopher Hall by 6:15 PM. We will serve refreshments with some light snacks. The installation and social is open to family and friends and I encourage you to invite them and also prospective members to attend. We started with over 80 members and if we follow the example set by Council 7613, there is only one course open to us and that is to be one of the premier assemblies in the city if not the whole K of C organization. I encourage every member to acquire full regalia and Bill Faucher has volunteered to be Color Corp Commander. We need to support his endeavors. We also adopted as a project to work with the Fisher houses and the new Intrepid facility at BAMC helping out however we can with our wounded troops. Phil Brookes has volunteered to head this committee. This will be a great assembly and I know that what makes us great is not the leaders but the men who follow and really do the work. I and my Officers look forward to working with you as we build this assembly. John Ellis "Jeb" Bush (born February 11, 1953), is an American businessman and politician, and the Republican forty-third Governor of Florida. He is a prominent member of the Bush family, the younger brother of President George W. Bush and the second son of former President George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush. In addition to his business, civic and honorable charitable activities, Bush underwent a religious conversion during his early career years. At the urging of his wife, Columba, a devout Mexican Catholic, the Protestant Bush became a Roman Catholic. He and his wife belonged to the Epiphany Catholic Church in Miami for many years. Bush is also a Third Degree Knight of Columbus according to an August 3, 2004 speech his brother President George W. Bush made at the 122nd Knights of Columbus Convention in Dallas. The following is an excerpt from the speech: "I'm proud to say that my family has contributed to your ranks. A few years ago, Governor Jeb became a Knight. And he-yes-and he recently took his Third Degree. I'll see him this weekend. His son is getting married. I'll pass on the word, aim for the Fourth." Here s Your Sign Every month we will explore the 4th degree various emblems and jewels and its structure for a better understanding of our assembly.
