ARGYLL AND THE ISLES PRAYER CYCLE 2013 Day 1 For the people of The Cathedral Church of St John the Divine, Oban For The Very Rev'd Nicki McNelly and her husband, Iain For Donald Shell, Lay Reader For Rev d Ian Walter and Rev d Kit Jarman and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: For the development of the Cathedral s role in the town and district, for its hospitality to visitors and for its role in the Diocese and Province For the work of The Diocesan Mission and Ministry Board in building the vision for our Diocese For Christ Church Cathedral, Stonetown, Zanzibar built on the site of the old trading post for slaves. For the Cathedral congregation and for the urgent rehabilitation work on this historic Cathedral For Bishop Kevin and his wife Elspeth and for The Very Rev d Andrew Swift, Dean For ministry to all parts of the Diocese

Day 2 For the people of The Cathedral Church of The Holy Spirit, Millport, Isle of Cumbrae For Alastair Chisholm, Lay Chaplain and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: Give thanks for the ministry of the Cathedral to the island and to its visitors. Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit in that ministry, especially in the work with Retreats and with individual guests and with ministry in the local community. For the continuing Christian witness in Zan zibar, where the majority population is Muslim, giving thanks for the existing good relations between the different religious communities there. For the Chancellor of the Diocese For the Registrar of the Diocese: Mr Johnny Bell For members of the Mothers' Union in Argyll & The Isles, their colleagues world-wide, and especially in the Diocese o f Zanzibar For The Very Rev'd Nicki McNelly and her husband, Iain For Donald Beckitt, Lay Leader and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: For the continuing development of the Church in this remote and sparsely populated area, and with thanks for the continuing ministration of holiday clergy who make this possible during the summer months. Day 4 For the congregation at Kilbrandon For The Very Rev'd Nicki McNelly and her husband, Iain and all involved in ministry there Concerns: For the continued witness of this very small congregation. Day 29 For all Churches overseas that are twinned with churches in Argyll & The Isles For all those involved in twinning arrangements; that these twinnings will bring mutual support and encouragement and will foster international and ecumenical friendships and support. For the Heifer project for rural farmers in Zanzibar: part of a United Nations initiative. For our Sunday School teachers and for the children of our Diocese For the Diocese of Zan zibar and, The Rt Rev Michael Hafidh, their Bishop For The Rt Rev Dr John Armes, Bishop of Edinburgh and the clergy and people of that Diocese For Brightney in Malawi and Ester in Tanzania as they undertake secondary education sponsored by this Diocese.

Day 28 For all Episcopalians who live on the Islands of Uist and Barra and in other isolated parts of the Diocese For The Rev'd Donald Strachan Holy Cross Chapel, North Uist For Sonya Davidson Day 5 For the people of St Margaret s, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran For The Rev d Simon Macken zie For John Roberts and Janis Gallagher, Lay Leaders. For all involved in ministry there Concerns: For the continuing success of the work with Arran Churches Together; for the establishment of a centre of worship on the West side of the island. For The Rev d Canon Matthew Mhagama, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Zanzibar and for his wife, Scholarstica Rose Pray for the continuation of the daily worship, and the church's witness; also fo r the maintaining of good interchurch relations For The Rt Rev'd Dr Gregor Duncan, Bishop of Glasgow & Galloway and the clergy and people of that Diocese For The Rev d Mary Lewis and those that worship with her. Pray that Episcopalians/Anglicans be identified so that they may be welcomed into the fellowship of the Diocese and our ministry extended For The Rev d Philip Munguti of Zanzibar.

Day 6 Day 27 For the people of St John s, Ballachulish For The Rev'd Adrian Fallows and his wife Patsy and for all those involved in ministry there Concerns: For the future of the small congregation. For those involved in the Scottish Episcopal Church Mission Association and for their projects in Africa, Asia, Moldova and in Palestine. For the work of Links For the people of the Episcopal Church in the Isles of Coll, Tiree and Eigg For Karen and Simon Helliwell, Marie MacKinnon and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: for the support and encouragement of Episcopalians and others in these remote islands, and particularly for the Isle of Eigg Trust in the management of the island and for all that is being done to create a viable way of life for all in the future. For the Health Centre project in the Kiungani area of Stonetown, for continued funding and for the HIV/AIDS awareness project in Zanzibar. For those living alone, those in difficult circumstances of health or finance and for all who need our prayers For the Provincial Mission and Ministry Board and Committees For The Rev d Charles Lundu, priest at Christ Church Cathedral, Stonetown, Zanzibar and for his wife, Magreth For The Rt Rev'd Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross & Caithness and the clergy and people of that Diocese

Day 26 For the people of Tighnabruaich For The Rev d Andrew Swift and his wife, Mary and all involved in ministry there Concerns: To know how best to live and to fulfil our distinctive witness in our small community. For the Diocesan Education Scheme, Zan zibar. Mostly funded by the Diocese of Ely. The SEC Overseas committee covers the fees of 3 children for 3 years For the Provincial Faith and Order Board and for the Provincial Information & Communication Board and all who work on the pendant committees of these Boards Day 7 For the people of St Kiaran s, Campbeltown For David McEwan, Lay Chaplain. For Frances Arthur and Judith Macrae, Lay Leaders and for all involved in ministry there. For the retired clergy in the congregation: Canon Keith Pagan Concerns: To find ways of reaching out into the community, to value the ministry of every member within the Church and to e n j oy g ro w th fo r t h e congregation both spiritually and numerically For Naomi Tomlinson, former member of the congregation, as she continues to work through the Aid Agency Triple E to improve conditions for the street children of Manila in the Philippines. For Alison Clark, the Diocesan Learning and Development Officer and Congregational Development Officer Day 25 For the people of St Peter's, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis For The Rev'd Sister Clare Lockhart and all involved in ministry there For the continued growth of our congregation, it's spiritual health and wellbeing, and for our outreach ministries, in particular for all the people involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. For the development and growth of ecumenical relationships within the island. For the Benedictine Community at Carmel, Gress For Joan Kilvington (Community Convenor) For the Zan zibar Diocesan Mothers Union. For their important work amongst women in Zanzibar. For the piggery at Machui run by the Mothers Union. For all charities supported by our Diocese and all who are engaged in charitable work

Day 24 For the people of St Paul s, Rothesay For The Rev d Andrew Swift and his wife, Mary and all involved in ministry there. Concerns: to explore the church s place in the wider Christian presence on the Isle of Bute. Day 9 For the people of St Adamnan's, Duror with St Moluag's, Kentallen For The Rev'd Adrian Fallows and his wife Patsy, For Kim Malcolm, Lay Leader and all involved in ministry there For the Parish of Machui and for Canon Charles Majaliwa, their priest and for his wife, Emmeriter. For all involved in Youth Work in our Diocese and for the Diocesan Child Protection and Youth Officer, Dr Sue Pollard. For all involved with the Arran Youth Foundation, Two Lochs Youth and Community Project, Hope 2 Oban, and Dunoon Exp For Clergy widows and for all who care for them Concerns: For work among young people; for spiritual growth in the congregation; for a deeper commitment to Local Collaborative Ministry. Day 10 Day 23 For the people of St Andrew's, Fort William For The Rev'd Alexander Guinness and his wife Elaine and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: that members of the congregation may continue to deepen their spirituality and reach out to others; for on-going repairs to make the church watertight; for the continuation of good ecumenical relationships in Fort William and the surrounding area and the work of F ort William Council of Churches under the chairmanship of the Revd Alexander Guinness For The Rev d Canon Emmanuel Masoud of Zanzibar. For the work of our Diocesan Retreat Houses: For the College of the Holy Spirit, Cumbrae and for The Friends of The Cathedral, Cumbrae ; for David Todd, Warden For Bishop's House, Iona and The Friends of Bishop s House, Iona; for Toben Lewis, Warden, for Robbie MacLellan, assistant manager and the rest of the staff For all involved in running the Retreat Houses Please pray for the people of the Episcopal Church on the Isle of Skye and Raasay For: Bishop Kevin, Interim Rector and for the Ministry Team: Sr Elizabeth, Lay Leader, The Rev'd Roger McDowell, Rosemary Bungard (ordinand) especially during her TISEC training For The Rev'd Fred Baillie and The Rev d Ted Redhead in their retirement among us Concerns: For the congregations of: St Columba's, Portree, St Michael and All Angels, Raasay and St Mary s, Sleat. Day 22 For the people of Holy Cross, Portnacrois For The Rev'd Adrian Fallows and his wife Patsy, For all involved in ministry there Concerns: for continuation and growth of the congregation, both spiritually and numerically and for growth of the warm relations with the Church of Scotland Parish Church. Day 11 For the people of St Mary's, Glencoe For The Rev'd Adrian Fallows and his wife Patsy For Jeremy and Mau reen Rivers and Geoff Headden, Lay Readers and for all those involved in ministry there. Concerns: for the outreach to families and young people in the community. For the twin congregation of Immanuel Church, Glencoe, Maryland; For links with St Mary's & St John's Primary School, Glencoe. For St Monica s Nursery and Primary School, Zanzibar. For the head teacher, Denis Mayemba, the staff and children and for their efforts to raise money to purchase a bus. For the Cathedral Chapter: The Bishop, The Dean, The Provost, and The Synod Clerk For Francis Haule, studying on the African mainland, to return home for lay ministry in Zanzibar For all Sacristans, Altar Servers, all who work to maintain church buildings and grounds and for all who help with cleaning, flower-arranging and with the beautification of our churches

Day 21 Day 12 For the people of St Columba, Gruline, Isle of Mull For Jeff Fielding, Lay Leader, Margaret Parker, Lay Reader and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: for support and encouragement of Anglican Christians in all parts of the island; For ecumenical work with churches of other denominations. For Edward Kaleza of Zanzibar For the people of St Columba's, Poltalloch For The Rev d Simon Macken zie For all involved in ministry there Concerns: that they continue to reflect the concerns of the rural community around them. For Vicky Mwakanjuki, Manager of St Monica s Hostel, Tea Room and Shop, Zanzibar. For this long established fund-raising project for the Diocese. For the staff and for the tourists from all over the world who visit the Cathedral precinct. For the patients and residents of all Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Residential Homes in the Diocese, and for all who work in them. For the elderly of the Diocese For all Schools in the Diocese

Day 20 For the people of St Bride's, Onich For The Rev'd Adrian Fallows and his wife Patsy Day 13 For the people of Christ Church, Isle of Harris For The Rev'd Daniel Davies and his wife, Catherine For all involved in ministry there Concerns: for further development of the links with the community and with St Bride's Primary School. For all ministry involved in there Concerns: for the further development of Local Collaborative Ministry; For the twin congregation of Christ Church, Lochgilphead. For St Mark s Nursery School, Kiwenga, Zanzibar. For a teacher and funding for this much needed project. For the staff of the Diocesan Centre in Oban - Audrey Walton, Bishop s Secretary; Peter Kemp, Diocesan Secretary; Jean Ainsley, Diocesan Treasurer; Sue Pollard, Diocesan Administrator. For Catherine Mniga, studying on the African mainland, to return home for lay ministry in Zanzibar For all church organists, choirmasters, musicians, and all who sing in church choirs for the glory of God. For the Royal School of Church Music

Day 14 For the people of All Saints, Inveraray For The Rev d Simon Macken zie For all those involved in ministry there Concerns: that the congregation can continue its ministry with tourists, enabling them to leave their prayer petitions in the church. For St John the Baptist Church on Pemba Island, Zanzibar. For their priest and for this small congregation as they live out their Christian faith, sometimes in a tense and difficult situation in a Muslim island community. Day 19 For the people of Christ Church, Lochgilphead For The Rev d Simon Macken zie For the Lay Worship Team and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: to maintain the links in the community and overseas and to be open to new opportunities; to develop the Lay Worship Team ensuring that all gifts and talents are employed; for the twin congregations of Christ Church, Isle of Harris and Harrison, New Jersey. For St Mark s Church, Kiwenga, Zanzibar. For this small new congregation which built its church in 2004 with a Lay Leader Evangelist in charge. The congregation have placed some stones from Iona in the altar of the church. For the Retired Clergy of the Diocese

Day 18 For the people of St Finan s, Kinlochmoidart with St Mary's, Strontian For Jim Kirby and John Tyldsley, Lay Leaders and for all involved in ministry there For retired clergy, Rev Charles Tongue Concerns: to create fellowship for everyone within the Diocese. For the Christian staff of St Barnabas Nursery School, Mahonda, Zanzibar. For the Muslim and Christian children who attend this school and for their parents Day 15 For the people of The Chapel of St Columba, Bishop's House, Isle of Iona For Toben Lewis and The Rev d Joyce Watson, and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: for grace to serve and to care for the island community and for the many visitors who use St Columba's Chapel and Bishop's House. For Iona Abbey and The Iona Community and for the Warden and for the staff and volunteers. For all the Clergy and Lay Representatives to The General Synod For The Rev d Jackson Sosthene of Zanzibar.

Day 16 For the people of St Columba's, Isle of Islay For The Rev'd Ken Skipper and his wife Christine, and for all involved in ministry there Concerns: for fund-raising for urgent church renovation; for growth in the congregation, especially amongst young families; for the continued witness of this small congregation.
